An exciting day today as the Australian Open and under 25s won the Australia Match.

The open team won with a record breaking score.

Well done to team captains Jim Bailey and Pat Cabot (u25s) and Holsworthy’s other members in the open team Chris and Mitch and to all the Australian team members - congratulations.

We learnt tonight that this is the first time that Australia has held both the Palma (world championship) and Australia Match trophies since 1907.

Barb and Pete were both part of winning Australian Teams today with both Veterans Teams winning the major (Southern Cross) matches.

Barb’s half team beat New Zealand by 8 points while Peter’s full team beat Great Britain by just 1 point (and 13 vs). It was a very exciting finish for the spectators knowing there was only a 1 point lead with Pete still to fire 4 shots and he finished 5V5V!

Tomorrow is the Australia Match for the open and under 25 teams. Good luck Aussies!

800m was shot on the ANZAC Range today with a surprisingly variable NE and E wind which made it tough going, with a few 44's , 45's, and 46's.

Then Phil got back into the swing and got a 49.5 - robbed on his last shot of a possible.

A bit of excitement with Lilly hitting a v bull on her first shot today!

The whales were also putting on a show!

Thanks Rob for organising the targets today and the new, tablet / clipboard mount combo!

Jim captained the Australian Team to a win in the first match today which included Mitch and Chris.

Australia’s Veterans Team (including Pete) and Veterans Half Team (including Barb) both came 2nd (after the results page was updated after originally showing they’d won).

Pat was part of the Australian U25 Green Team which came third behind Australia’s U25 Gold Team and just 2points behind the Great Britain blue team.

Brisbane- day 1 of the Presidents (lead up) saw Jim take out the first range with 50.10 at 300m and he and Mitch finish the day in 2nd and 3rd place.
Mitch got to take baby Fletcher up to see 3 Bailey generations on the stage.
We should mention that during the day it was Barb in the lead with 3 possibles going into the last range but her conditions at 1000y didn’t go her way - but some solid shooting today nonetheless.
Finally it was Pete who managed to be the final Holsworthy rep on the Board at 22nd place.
It’s early days though and plenty of time for all to feature as we go along.
Good luck all.

We have some catching up to do!!

Last weekend before the Club shoot the NSWRA 300m championships were held, with our members Pete, Mitch and Jim entered. Mitch took out 1st place in the NRAA Category with a record score of 599/600!

After that we set up our new SilverMountain targets for the first time - thanks to a NSW Sport grant.

Barb then topped TR in the club with 99.12 and in Sporter Oli got one over Dad Nick by a point with 99, while Paul H had a great 2nd stage with 50.9.

Meanwhile we were all on tenterhooks watching Chris as he competed in the SA Kings where it went down to the wire on Sunday to see him finish in 4th place by 2 points with SA’s Duncan Muller in 1st.

Fast forward to this week and Issy, Nick, Jim, Mitch and Jo all pitched in at the MDRA working bee in the morning to help clean out the target shed and do some mantlet work.

So only afternoon shooting again where Mitch coached young Eason on his third visit as he went from strength to strength with each stage.

For our members you needed 100.19 to top the club in TR and Sporter. Well done to Nick on taking Sporter honours including his first 50.10 and to Mitch for TR getting Dad by just 2vs with Barb just 3vs back!

Next week international matches are being held in Brisbane and we wish our members participating in the individual events all the very best and we’ll be proudly cheering you guys representing in Australian teams - Barb and Pete in the veterans matches, Pat in the Under 25s, and Chris and Mitch in the open Team captained by Jim. Go Aussies!!
