The servo as we know it. The ever popular Sunday waterfall ride. A sea of merlot today. Great to see most people in their club kit.

Believe it or not, cyclists are inherently social creatures .. drawn to ride side by side and talk about … watts, nutrition, strength training, recovery methods, future training goals, races, latest tech, cycling podcasts, and of course the excuses as to why you may not be riding your best today. United by a singular common mindset.

Everyone was getting their 2nd last Heffron practice in before we host the States for U19, U23, Elite and Masters Championships on 31 October and 1 November (entries via EntryBoss). Was great to see a full womens podium in C Grade - chapeau.

Chapeau to Shane Mattiske! Shane’s race report:

UCI Gravel Champs in Nannup W.A. was so so tough. The course was 125k and over 3000m of climbing - all on the famous pea gravel of Nannup.

Nannup is the first gravel worlds away from Europe and they delivered a proper gravel course.. the town is totally backing the race and the atmosphere here around the event has been awesome.

Everyone was talking about how technical the race corners were with the ball bearing effect of the gravel. Rain in the two days leading into the race and light rain for most of the race day settled the gravel down but added the issue of mud everywhere.

My age group was strong and hit the first of the famous ‘seven’ climbs at full intensity. The climbs are long and steep with almost no flat sections on the course.

I tried to stay with the front as long as I could but by halfway was around 20th.. Was absolutely cooked for the whole second half of the race..

The rain made the course super sketchy. Lots of crashes in fast corners. I faded in the second half of the race (maybe going to Italy for a ‘training camp’ wasn’t the best plan). Pickle juice saved me.. Finished 29th of 69 in the end after just trying to survive for the last 40k. The course was super hard and the mud was sucking power.
Super satisfying to finish!

PS .. my team partner Tanya came second in her age group!

Should mention also the old men raced just behind the elite Women. It was so great to see top Aussie women racing and to see Voss the Boss win another title - 20 years after her first!

A different type of hard! Congratulations to Ori Gudes and son Alon on some fantastic results in MTBO Nationals
Race report👉

A tough morning in the Middle Distance, with Alon taking 6 and ORI finishing 8th.
Neither managed a clean run with the navigation proving challenging!

In the afternoon they headed to Federation University in Ballarat for the Sprint race, where Alon took the win
• by a narrow margin of just 24 seconds! Ori finished 5th overall and was the 4th Australian across the line.

What made this result particularly special for Ori was seeing Alon take his first-ever win in the Sprint category! So proud of him and the way he bounced back in the afternoon ❤️🥇

And Victory is ours at the State Team Trial Championships hosted by Goulburncycleclub and AusCycling- NSW.

So proud of every single Randwick racer who pinned on a number and fought hard in those Gunning headwinds.

We had some great competition today with Centennial Park Cycling Club and Manly Warringah Cycle Club pushing us all the way. We look forward to a rematch in 2027 🔥🍷
