Amazing fundraiser to get behind , lots of local business donated prizes to be raffled while supporting such a worthy cause !

When one of my favourite humans is not ok…
The local business in our town have rallied. This day is for Red (Andrew Ready) and his family.
Put this date in you calendar and come have a day with us at the Torbanlea Sip.
Sunday the 13th Sept, we open our doors at 630am, raffles will be held between 10-12 with Macca & the film crew.

Red’s story with the Queensland Police Service began in 1991, when he entered the Academy straight out of Year 12.

His career began in Rockhampton, but something else began there too. At just 19 years old, he met Glennice — the woman who would go on to become his wife and stand beside him through more than three decades of life.

Over the years, Red’s career took him across Queensland — from Rockhampton to Blackall, Hervey Bay, Tiaro, Middlemount, Peranga, Richmond and eventually back to Hervey Bay. In 2009, he stepped into Forensics as a Scenes of Crime Officer in Maryborough, where he has remained ever since.

This year marks an incredible 35 years of service.

But behind the uniform and the career is the life Red and Glennice built together. They married in 1997 and have three wonderful children and a much-loved daughter-in-law. A family, a career and a life built over decades — the sort of ordinary, precious life none of us ever imagine could change almost overnight.

In January 2026, it did.

Red was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma, an aggressive and currently incurable form of brain cancer. Later that month, he underwent surgery to remove a 6cm tumour. He is now midway through his second course of chemotherapy.

For Red and his family, the diagnosis has meant confronting a reality no family should have to face.

Glioblastoma remains without a cure, and despite decades of research, treatment options have historically been heartbreakingly limited. But there is hope. Research is moving forward, with numerous studies and clinical trials underway, including Phase 3 human trials at Gold Coast University Hospital.

One of the cruellest realities of Glioblastoma is that even after surgery and treatment, patients can find themselves waiting — waiting to see what the cancer does next before further treatment options can be considered.

So Red and his family find themselves in that impossible space between fear and hope: knowing what they are facing, while hoping that medicine and research can move faster than the disease.

For 35 years, Red has been one of the people who turns up when somebody else is having one of the worst days of their life.

Now, it’s our turn to turn up for him.

To stand beside Red, Glennice and their family. To give them a little breathing room amongst the appointments, treatments and uncertainty. And perhaps most importantly, to remind them that they don’t have to carry all of this alone.

Because behind 35 years of service is a husband, a dad, a colleague, a mate and a man with an enormous amount still worth fighting for.

And while there is research, there is hope.

We’re holding onto that hope with Red.

Important notice on gym etiquette

Some important notes.

🛑 please return attachments and weights to racks and boxes

🛑please do not sit on phones for 10 minutes in between sets on machines

🛑 we please ask that members are hygienic and wear some form of deodorant

🛑please return wipes to the dirty bin on your way out and put your rubbish in the bins

🛑 side note. If you break something in the gym, please don’t be afraid to tell us (these things happen) this will allow us to make repairs as soon as possible.

Thank you for taking the time to read/watch this! As said in video, we understand most people do their best and some people may not be up to speed on gym etiquette. This is just a friendly reminder. 😃
