The MDCA mourns the passing of one of the true legends of Maryborough and Victorian cricket, Mr Ken Gibbs. From his early days with P&N and later with Colts, and representing the district in Victorian Country XIs, Ken Gibbs was a devastating seam bowler, a brilliant fielder, a strong batsman and a driving force in cricket administration at Colts and the MDCA. He was a curator, coach, selector, umpire and mentor. His contribution to the great game cannot be overstated, and he will be sorely missed.

Ken Gibbs is seated centre in the accompanying picture of a Maryborough Country Week side, as captain.

The Nutrien Ag Insurance MDCA Semi Finals are set 👏

Laanecoorie-Dunolly defeated a Colts Phelans in a low scoring and hard fought game to secure top spot with both teams claiming home team advantage for semi finals.

While in A Reserve, Avoca, Colts Phelans and MKM took the chocolates yesterday to secure the top 3 spots in a very tight race to finals, with Clunes taking out 4th spot on quotient over Beaufort Red.

Goodluck to all teams heading into Semi Finals next weekend!

With finals edging closer, every result is starting to carry a bit more weight — ladder spots, momentum and bragging rights all on the line. Expect a few season-defining performances.

Also, last week’s results are finally up, so if you’ve been waiting to check the scores (or relive a big knock 👀), they’re ready to go.

Weekend wrap – A Grade & A Reserve 🏏🔥

Plenty of runs on the board and wickets falling in bunches across both grades. From big hundreds and crucial half-centuries to match-shaping spells with the ball, Round 15 delivered a bit of everything.

As we edge closer to finals, every result is starting to matter that little bit more 👀💪

Unfortunately for us Warrnambool Moyne were just too good today.

The boys were gallant in defeat and tried hard all day, but WMCA's bowling attack was impeccable with few MDCA players able to withstand the onslaught of WM's Ben Rantall. Josh Fitzpatrick was the only batsman to reach double figures with 28 including 2 sixes. Fitzpatrick (1/24 off 3) and Alex Cook (1/9 off 1) took our only 2 wickets as WMCA chased down our 69 run total in just 10 overs.

While it was a loss today, it doesn't take away from the week or how proud we are of the both the team and the individual performances the lads delivered this week.

Runners up in Division 2 of Melbourne Country Week is something that everyone should be very proud of and with that comes promotion to MCW Provincial Division next year.

Congratulations on an amazing week boys! We go again next year bigger and stronger!

The lads got the win on the last of the round games for Melbourne Country Week 2026 beating Warnambool Moyne in a T20 after overs were reduced following a rain delay.

Man of the Match Joel Pymer got the boys off to a great start with the ball taking 4/27 off his 4 and was well backed up by Theo Trevelyan-Clark (3/11 off 4) restricting WMCA to 10/109 off their 20 thanks to 2 last over run outs.

The MDCA struggled with the bat early, loosing Bennett for a duck second ball of the innings quickly followed by Nafis Shaikh (0) and Asim Akhtar (6). It was Ben Evans (22) who settled with opener Will Coutts (24), despite getting hit on the forearm early, the pair worked well to tick runs over with a number of quick singles.
Evans dismissal at the 55 run mark saw Captain Sam Bartlett come to the crease still needing 55 to win. Bartlett made his mark early with plenty of shots, working in well with Coutts who anchored the innings until his dismissal with 17 runs left in the chase. Not that it mattered as the boys powered home, with Bartlett finishing the innings with a 6!

The win sees the MDCA finish undefeated at the top of the Div 2 Ladder and facing off against Warnambool Moyne tomorrow to see who takes the Div 2 title!

Day 3 at Melbourne Country Week and the boys brought the heat 🔥🏏

A strong 7/272 on the board, highlighted by Oliver Bennett’s classy 81, with Alex Cook (49*) and Brandon Walsh (44) providing plenty of support.

The bowlers did the rest, rolling Ivanhoe for 109 to cap off a dominant all-round performance. Walsh (4/26) led the charge, well backed by Fitzpatrick and Trevelyan-Clark.

Joint Men of the Match: Ollie Bennett and Brandon Walsh.

Big win. Big energy. On we roll 💪
