We often hear people say, “We all have the same 24 hours in a day.”
The truth is, we don’t all have the same 24 hours available for exercise.
Some people are raising children, caring for family members, working multiple jobs, managing businesses, studying, dealing with health challenges, or simply trying to get through a difficult season of life.
Comparing your fitness journey to someone else’s is unfair because you don’t know what fills their day — and they don’t know what fills yours.
This morning, I had every intention of getting up at 5:30am to complete my training session. But as many parents know, plans don’t always go as expected. After a rough night with a toddler who wasn’t sleeping well, I pressed snooze twice and accepted that my morning wasn’t going to look the way I had planned. Instead of skipping my workout altogether, I adjusted and got my session done while my toddler was having a nap.
That’s what consistency really looks like. It’s not about perfect routines, ideal schedules, or never missing a beat. It’s about adapting when life happens and finding a way to keep moving forward.
Exercise isn’t about having endless free time. It’s about making the most of the time you do have. For some, that’s an hour in the gym. For others, it’s a 20-minute walk, a quick home workout, or fitting in a session during nap time.
Progress isn’t measured by how much time you have. It’s measured by what you do with the time available to you.
Focus on your journey, your circumstances, and your consistency. Small efforts repeated over time will always beat perfection that never starts.
