I went to Brisbane to go to 2026 BMX Racing World Championship. The night before the race, I went to bed early at 7 on the dot. I was feeling nervous and excited when I was trying to sleep.
Next morning, I jumped off my bed and woke my cousin up. We both put on knee pads and armour and wore our national jersey.
Yes! I represent Canada and my cousin represent Taiwan. When I wore my jersey, I felt strong and powerful, and ready to race with other riders. There were over 3000 riders coming from 41 countries.
My grandma was a Team Manager of Chinese Taipei so she could walk us in and stay with us. Her job was to take care of me and my cousin even though I was with Team Canada.
When I lined up to race with glee, I went up to the ramp for 5 meter starting hill. And how do we know when to start? The staff would put the hand up and that means GO!
When I was racing with other riders, I was totally pumped! I padeled as fast as I could but after 3 motos, I wasn’t qualified for the finals. I ended up with world ranking 37. I’m very proud of myself.
My favorite part of WORLDS is to swap jersey, and I got Swiss, Aussie, New Zealand and Canada jersey. And I also enjoyed giving out souvenir from Taiwan and Australia. At the end, I got lots trades from other riders too.
I really enjoyed WORLDS and I hope I could go to France next year for WORLDS!
