One of the things I LOVE about Little Athletics is that it’s about so much more than who’s the fastest, jumps the highest or throws the furthest.
As part of the new Little Athletics Queensland (LAQ) Athlete of the Week initiative, we’re celebrating the things that make a TRUE athlete — and our littlest Sharkies are already LOVING it!
Just look at those proud little faces!
Athlete of the Week is about recognising the things that can sometimes go unnoticed…
💙 Listening to your coach and following instructions
🦈 Being kind and encouraging your fellow athletes
👏 Having a go and giving it your best
🤝 Showing respect and being a great teammate
⭐ Bringing a positive attitude and being willing to learn
Because let’s be honest… at this age, it’s not all about the results! It’s about learning, growing, building confidence, making friends and discovering what it means to be part of a team.
Sometimes the biggest achievement isn't crossing the finish line first. It's listening when you find it tricky, cheering on a friend, trying something new or showing kindness when nobody even asks you to.
THAT is what being a Shark is all about. 💙🤍
Seeing our U6 athletes beaming with pride over their awards is exactly why I love what we do. The medals, ribbons and certificates are lovely, but that little boost of confidence and knowing they've done something worth celebrating? THAT'S the good stuff. 🥹
Here’s to celebrating the little wins, the big efforts and all the beautiful things that happen beyond the finish line.
