Big news for Aussie indoor hockey. 🇦🇺🏑

Hockey Australia Indoor has locked in its U18 coaches, they will be leading the teams this December at PSI Nationals in South Africa.

Men’s team, Ben Poulton
Women’s team, Amanda Christie

Two huge appointments for the future of our game.

Poulton steps in with strong experience at both national and pathway levels, representing Australia, multiple national titles with NSW and spending the past five years building Queensland’s indoor program.
“I’ve always been passionate about helping young players achieve their goals. It’s an incredible honour to lead the Australian U18 Men’s Indoor Team, and I’m excited to work with this talented group as we keep building a strong future for indoor hockey.”

Christie brings serious pedigree to the women’s program, with Australian Indoor representation from 2004 to 2011, Vice-Captain at the 2007 World Cup, and multiple national titles with WA. More recently, she’s been leading as Senior Coach at Reds in WA.

Two coaches who know the game, know what it takes and know how to build the next generation.

Venue: State Netball and Hockey Centre, Parkville, Melbourne

Training Day: Friday 8 January 2027

Event Dates: Saturday 9 January to Friday 22 January 2027

Division Schedule:

Open and U14: Saturday 9 January to Wednesday 13 January
U21: Thursday 14 January to Sunday 17 January
U16: Thursday 14 January to Monday 18 January
U18: Tuesday 19 January to Friday 22 January

Hockey SA is seeking Expressions of Interest from athletes interested in participating in the 2026 Indoor Hockey Program.

U14 & U16 will be held in July for a training camp and/or tournament. Details will be finalised soon.

*U16 – Athletes born on or after 1 January 2010
*U14 – Athletes born on or after 1 January 2012

U18 & Opens will be held in October training camp and/or tournament. Details will be finalised soon.
