Even though the 2025/26 sailing season has wrapped up, Altona Yacht Club has been anything but quiet!
From our sparkling Gala Dinner in May to the AGM & Presentation Night in July, plus fresh fencing and new concreting in the carpark and more new chairs the place has been buzzing with activity and upgrades.
And the most recent big news is that in August we’ve added five Minnows to our green fleet program meaning we’re on track to kick off 2026/27 with 10 Minnows, building on our awesome 13‑strong Zoom8 intermediate fleet juniors and already thriving Tackers program.
The junior pathway is looking stronger than ever. With the club junior regatta back again for the march long weekend, and advanced junior program planned for 2027/28 season.
And for the senior members there will be a better sailing course added building on our sailing 1/2 introduction course and well as the masterclass will be back again with 2 master-classes planned, one in January another in April. This will build on retention of trainees and maintaining skills of our senior members.
Then there’s another state titles to be hosted, and also plans to host a world championship underway.
The horizon is bright at AYC, the breeze for the 2026/27 season is calling and is shaping up to be a fantastic season for sailors .......of every age.
This has only happened by a committed committee that is continuing to build a sailing community that has fun on and off the water.
Bring it on!

A big day at Altona Yacht Club as we finish of the sailing training for the year.
Despite sketchy weather forecasted we had some light enough conditions to hit the water, with some bought of showers.
Then all came back in the evening to celebrate the achievements of our juniors in their tackers, green fleet and intermediate fleet training, plus celebrate the winners of this season's junior regatta series and the biddy Hu Cup.
A fun evening had by all
