Let’s talk about manifesting our soul mate, finding “the one” and how problematic it can be unless you understand this.

When we make someone else responsible for our pleasure, several things happen, and none of them serves us.

1. We become dependent on their mood, their desire, their energy and their attention to access our own aliveness. On the days they’re distracted, tired, disconnected or simply human, we feel abandoned by our own pleasure. Not because they’ve done anything wrong. Because we’ve handed them something that was never theirs to hold.

2. We also start to perform rather than feel. When pleasure becomes about what we’re giving or receiving from another person, we begin monitoring the experience rather than inhabiting it. So we get in our heads about it... Are they enjoying this? Am I doing this right? Do they find me desirable? Is this taking too long. The mind takes over and the body quietly leaves the room.

3. And perhaps most significantly, we start to resent the people we’ve made responsible for something they never agreed to carry. The partner who doesn’t initiate enough. The lover who doesn’t read our mind. The relationship that should be making us feel alive but somehow isn’t.

The resentment isn’t really about them.

It’s about the parts of ourselves we’ve been waiting for someone else to unlock.

That’s unfair.

It creates attachment, pressure and expectations, and that’s not fun for anyone.

It’s all for you first and you have the power to be it for yourself first.

If you want a long-term relationship that is healthy, nourishing, fun and YUM.

Your er.otic current is yours.

It does not begin with another person.

It does not require permission.

It does not need the right conditions or the perfect moment or a partner who finally understands what you need.

It begins with you.

With your own relationship to your body.

With your own capacity to feel pleasure independent of anyone else’s participation.

With your own willingness to be turned on by your life, your senses, your aliveness, before you ever bring another person into the equation.
