Winton Wrap!

Had a great weekend at Winton back in the Clio after it had been sitting idle broken for the last 12 months.
Car was almost faultless over the weekend with a small lifter issue but not to worry we had the parts to fix.
Despite not running for points/results we were in the top 5 outright and second in class for the weekend and even managed to do a PB in race 3 with a 1:34.9

Highlight was the Clio battle to see how my backyard build stacked up against a factory built Clio Cup race car from the UK.
We exchanged similar lap times over the weekend with Neil too good in Qualifying and race 1-2
Sunday it was a different story with my clio taking the honours with race 3 and 4

I have a little idea for the clio which i will put to work over the next few weeks before we head back to Winton Oct 31- Nov 2 for the Australian Super TT Championship to take a plastic knife to a gun fight 😁

Qualifying has been run and done!

Starting out of P5 for the first race at 2:00pm
Super happy with the way the Clio is going,
lapping around my PB after having 12 months out of the car

Blendline TV will be streaming on their premium service under the Winton 300 if you wanna watch the racing this afternoon 😊

All loaded up and ready to go!!

Wet setup is in the car for Friday Practice as it is looking to be rather damp tomorrow 🌧️

Looking forward getting back behind the wheel of the mighty clio this weekend at Winton for round 5 of the Sports Compact series.

What a mission it has been to get a car together in 2 weeks!

Few things left on the list:

- Alignment
- Stickers
- Friday Test and tune

Starting to look more like an office instead of a garden shed 😁

Engine and box ready to go into the car which is exciting!!

Then the clean up after the car has been used as a garden shed for the past 12 months.
Transfer race seat, safety gear ect that i stole out of it for the Proton

Car has made it into the workshop now…
Its going to be a busyyyyyy weekend ahead 💪💪

Sh”t’s getting real now!

A week ago i thought to myself im gonna go through all my clio bits and see if i can make a decent engine out of it all.
80000km bottom end i had which still had the factory hone marks in the bores. I gave that a quick freshen up.
Rebuild head slapped on with all new gaskets and seals ect…
She is no HP monster but basicly a fresh factory motor which is a step up from the 200,000-300,000km wreckers motors i have always ran in the car

With Winton a week and a half away im defiantly giving it a crack to make it 😬😬
