Getting jacked! Resistance training to support our bones build muscles and strength during perimenopause

04/09/2026

Gosh I luuuurve a hot drink like Teeccino ☕️🌿 which is a an alternative to coffee. It’s a roasted dandelion root blend and I love that it’s got a bit of sweetness from carob and date. It’s got some prebiotics from chicory dandelion root so it supports your gut health and digestion detoxification this is made from 87% organic ingredients too. Caramel nut flour is my all-time favourite but the mocha mint is a close contender.
I’ve reduced caffeine intake at certain times of the cycle. Caffeine can be a little too overstimulating and drive anxiety as the body finds it more difficult difficulty to metabolize and detoxify so this is a really lovely way to not feel like you’re missing out and still have something delicious.
Next time you’re in Clinic with me ask and I’ll brew a cuppa and so you can let me know which one your fave is.

To be more potent. More therapeutic. To deeply heal.

New research CONFIRMS how shifting hormones interact directly with immune cells, inflammation pathways to trigger mast cell activation and drive up histamine. Fluctuating oestrogen during perimenopause drives up histamine production, while high histamine stimulates the ovaries to produce even more oestrogen, creating a vicious cycle that triggers mast cells.

Oestrogen binds directly to receptors on mast cells, causing them to degranulate and release waves of histamine and inflammatory cytokines into your system. At the same time, because progesterone drops first during peri, you lose the natural counterbalance that stabilises mast cells and keeps histamine levels low. High histamine then signals the ovaries to produce even more oestrogen!!!
Your gut is central to breaking this cycle. It produces diamine oxidase, known as DAO, the main enzyme responsible for clearing histamine from blood circulation. When gut health is compromised or DAO activity is suppressed by erratic oestrogen, histamine builds up and triggers systemic inflammation, showing up as urticaria, itchiness, brain fog, fatigue, feeling hot, and acid reflux. Clearing this build-up requires optimal gut clearance alongside healthy liver pathways to properly metabolise and eliminate excess oestrogen, preventing it from driving the histamine loop even higher.

That white film appearing on the apple filmed after hot water was poured over it is the applied wax layer used to extend shelf life.
While these waxes are food grade by Australian food, safety standards, Melbourne gastroenterologist Dr. Paul Froomes lists waxed conventionally grown apples as one of his top five foods to avoid for optimal gut health.
Here is why this impacts your gut microbiome:
🍏Trapped Agrochemicals: Post-harvest wax creates a seal over the fruit, trapping pesticide, fungicide, and insecticide residues underneath. Standard cold water washing will not remove them.
🍏Gut Barrier Irritation: Ingesting trapped chemical residues can irritate the delicate mucosal lining of your digestive tract, contributing to inflammation and intestinal permeability.
🍏Microbiome Impact: Regular exposure to pesticide residues can disrupt your beneficial gut bacteria, making it harder for your microbiome to stay balanced.

If you love your eating your apples, I’d highly recommend switching to organic apples as they are free from synthetic waxes and systemic pesticides, so you can safely eat the skin, without the concern of it, impacting your gut, microbiome.

🌞☀️🌞☀️🌞☀️🌞Sunlight hitting your skin is about far more than just a quick pick-me-up, it is essential systemic support for your entire body. ☀️🌞☀️🌞☀️🌞
When UVB rays interact with cholesterol in your skin, your body synthesises active Vitamin D. For optimal synthesis, aim for direct sun exposure, without barrier creams or glass in the way, on larger areas of exposed skin like your arms and legs.
Vitamin D acts more like a master hormone than a basic vitamin, supporting:
🌞 Thyroid & Ovarian Function: Helps support hormone pathway signalling and reproductive health.
🌞 Brain & Cognitive Health: Receptors throughout the brain rely on it to support mood, focus, and mental clarity.
🌞 Immunity: Essential for modulating immune responses and overall resilience.
Tip: Enjoy 10 to 15 minutes of sunshine on your skin of your long bones (arms, legs) to naturally boost your levels ☀️🌞☀️🌞☀️🌞☀️🌞☀️

Reduce pain. Improve circulation. Bring warmth back to your body with Moxibustion🪵✨

Moxibustion is a traditional heat therapy using dried mugwort leaf (Artemisia vulgaris). Held just above the skin, it delivers a deeply penetrating, infrared-like warmth that goes far beyond surface-level heat.
Why moxa works so well:
Boosts blood flow: Opens up tight capillaries and clears stagnation.
Relieves pain: Soothes stiff joints and calms sensitive nerves.
Reduces swelling: Helps flush out local inflammation.
Restores vitality: Deeply grounding, warming, and restorative.
While I use moxa in clinic to support pelvic circulation and hormonal balance, right now I’m using it on myself for chilblains.
Chilblains happen when tiny blood vessels react poorly to cold, causing painful, itchy, inflamed toes and fingers. Applying moxa gently opens those constricted vessels, takes the sting out immediately, and speeds up healing.
Do you suffer from poor winter circulation like me? Or painful periods or endo?

Your hidden home build up could be quietly triggering your immune system.
Dust dust mites and mould spores accumulate in bathroom exhaust fans ducted heating vents and dryer vents circulating straight into the air you breathe every day.
Constant exposure to these environmental toxins drives up a chronic histamine response and triggers mast cell activation for many women.
Getting your vents professionally cleaned at least once a year is a simple way to clear the air and lower your body load.
Signs of Mast Cell Activation:
🚨Brain fog and fatigue
🚨Anxiety and irritability
🚨Frequent sneezing and allergies
🚨Unexplained hives and itching
🚨Bloating and reflux
🚨Headaches and heart palpitations
Your environment might be playing a role if you have been ticking off these symptoms.
When was the last time you had your vents cleaned? 👇
