What a season so far!
Over 150 runners have raced at least once this Winter.
It's already Round 7 & we return back to Kilsyth, Elizabeth Bridge Reserve. Durham Rd. Saturday 20th of June.
Race 1 starts at 9am, be there by 8:45am for warm-ups and announcements.
A gentle nudge, that Cross Country cannot proceed safely and efficiently without a number of helpers jumping in on the day.
Thank you to those who have volunteered already
If you haven't filled a helper role this season - NOW is your time to shine.
To share the load, parents must volunteer several times during the season.
Marshals on the course are vital for safety, and races cannot start without them. Even if you can cover some of the races it helps.
Parents of younger athletes - please consider staying for a little while longer to marshal the older age races.
Racing is done by 10:30am - so it doesn't take all day!!
Here is the sign-up form - please put your name down - so we can be confident of having a good number of helpers.

We've been fortunate to add some additional help to allow results to be processed and published for the rest of the season.
We will follow with a separate post of the results so far as a summary.
Starting this week you will see results shortly after the racing is done on our private group Yarra Ranges Athletics Clubhouse.

XCR Round 4 returned to the historic venue of Cruden Farm, featuring a familiar but always interesting course packed with jumps, hills, a creek crossing, and beautiful scenes. In true cross country spirit, there was wind, there was drizzle, and by the time our Open Men took to the course, an all-out downpour. βοΈ
Zoe got the day off to a strong start for our juniors with an impressive 4th place finish in the U18 Women's race, narrowly missing a medal by just one second. Tori, Bri, and Lily also ran strongly over 4km, while Brig flew around the 7km U20 course. Ryder stormed home to 6th place in the U18 Menβs race. Ryder, Mitch, and Blake continue to form a strong trio in the U18 division, finishing 3rd as a team. We also saw impressive performances from James CS, Cozzie, Kimi, and Archie in their age groups.
Our Seniors raced over 12km and produced sensational performances on a tough course. With the women up first, Liv led the charge, finishing an outstanding 7th, further proving she is becoming a consistent top 10 performer. Grace and Maddie also delivered big performances, both finishing inside the top 40 and secured fourth place for the team despite only fielding three athletes. Our Open Women remain 3rd overall in the Div 2 standings.
Our men put together another dominant performance, making it three wins from four races in Division 2 and extending their lead at the top of the ladder. π₯ Harry, Tynan, James, Dan, Max, and Pierce formed a strong squad, all finishing inside the top 80. Harry topped Livβs position with a 5th overall. Pierce has been one of the standout additions of the season, firmly cementing himself in the Division 2 team and continuing to earn crucial points. The success didn't stop there. Sam led the Div 5 team, supported by Matt, Michael, and Gamage, to secure 1st place.
We would also like to give a big shoutout to the real MVP on the day, Kathi Hewitson, who sat out in the freezing cold, rain and mosquitoes ALL day for YRAβs club duty to ensure our teams didnβt lose points. Thank you so much Kathi π
Next up are the Calder Park Relays in just two weeks' time. Let us know if you are keen to race.

ROUND FOUR THIS WEEKEND!
Our Seniors are back and racing this weekend in Round 4 of XCR26. The venue this weekend is that of Cruden Farm, a fitting home for the Heritage Round, and a challenging XC course. Athletes compete over 4km, 7km and 12km distances. Cruden is known for it's tough rolling hills, beautiful farm and gardens, and excellent spectating. We'd strongly encourage our community to drop down to Langwarrin, enjoy a walk in the gardens and soak up the XCR atmosphere whilst cheering on team Yarra.
As the Heritage Round, clubs will take the opportunity to showcase their histories and we'll be keen to see some vintage uniforms on full display.
Head over to Aths Vic to register today if you haven't already.
See everyone at Cruden Farm this weekend! πππ€

Last weekend we were proud to see Liv and Tynan head down to Launceston for the McGrath Launceston Running Festival. Liv and Tynan competed over 10k recording some sensational results. Tynan placed 22nd and recorded a cracking time of 30:26. Liv had a fantastic run, sitting on a keen sub-35 minute group and chasing down a 35:00 flat. A club first, and new record! A sub-35 by her own net time too, only 1 second away on her World Athletics profile! An amazing result in its own right, with Liv also placing 7th amongst the female race. Well done Liv and Tynan, we look forward to seeing you both back in action at XCR this weekend π©΅ππ€
