Rhys is 3 weeks into a strength-and-conditioning training block with the team at Team 639. He is focused on neck/upper body and core strength, plus increasing his base level fitness, which will take his racing to another level. Watch out.😊 Shout-out to Hayden and the team, who are providing some awesome support/guidance.
Aiming for Round 4 of the Formula Vee Championship at Sandown, August 07 – 09. Stay Tuned

Change of plans, Rhys won't be racing at Calder Park this weekend. We're now aiming for round 3 at Winton Raceway, May 01 - 03.

Rhys had a HUGE first day in his Vee, a real test of endurance (physical and mental) for a 14yo where he learnt sooo much.
The main aim was to get used to the new car and track and collect some data to further modify/tune the Vee.
He managed 4 x 18min sessions in hot, trying conditions, did spin off twice, pushing a bit hard, a bit early.
Rhys had to cope with multiple yellow flags, red flags, and himself black-flagged for a small oil leak, but managed it all very well.
He couldn't help but get involved in a few battles throughout the day😜, but he steadily improved his times.
Massive thanks to the Akurra Motorsport, who were amazing.
He is now primed for his first event, Round 2 of the championship, again at Calder Park, Mar 20 - 22.

Fitting and induction day done with the team at Akurra Motorsport. Next, Rhys has a test day at Calder Park on March 9 for his first drive in the Vee. Aiming for his first race, round 2, Calder Park, Mar 20 - 22.
Rhys is super excited 😀

Great News !!. We have purchased a Jaser F2K4 1600cc FormulaVee race car for the next stage of Rhys's motorsport journey. Big thanks to Lucas and team at Akurra Motorsport, who have been awesome and accepted Rhys into their team of drivers. He will be attending Round 1 on Fri - Sun at Sandown next weekend with the team to watch and learn as much as he can.
Next step is a Test Day in March at Calder Raceway.
Scorching Hot 42 degree day at Winton on Saturday. Rhys had heaps of fun in the Subie, completed 35 odd laps, pushing harder each time, until it was shut down at 12:30. Learnt heaps about the track but was only allowed to use 80% of the car's power as it was a "fun day" 😉

2026 is starting to take shape for Rhys.
He's booked in and set for a day of circuit racing (which is his thing) at the Iconic Winton Raceway's Fun Day, Saturday 31st Jan. 20min sessions to take on the track and find limits of his Subie. It will be good prep for a possible go at the Super Sprints events at Winton starting April11. Formula Vee also has a round at Winton, so it's great to get a full day of practice on the track. Unfortunately, the original deal for the Formula Vee has fallen through, but it's still Rhys's goal, and we'll be looking again later in the year.
Rhys is also entered into the Adult League at Karting Madness Braybrook this year on Wednesday nights. He's super excited to take on the adults in the faster karts. 5 min Qualifying, then 40 lap race.
We'll continue with Khanacross events on the dirt at Avalon's Geelong Motorsport Complex, 2026 schedule attached.

A few clips from the come and try day at Avalon.
Was the last chance to get some time behind the wheel for Rhys before next year.
10 runs on the dirt and lots of fun burning rubber around the cones on the bitumen made for a great end to the season.
Rhys had the chance to work on his starts and cornering technique on the dirt and is primed for a big 2026 😎

Rhys is now Back to Back Junior Khanacross Champion for WDCC and GMSC after completing the final round (9) of the 2025 Series.
He knew at the start of the day, with the current standings, all he had to do was keep his runs clean. No penalties for hitting tyres, cones or WD’s at the gates and to continually improve his times over the day. With some tough competition coming from the McKee brothers, as usual.
To his credit, he executed the plan magnificently.
Even better with three totally different sets of conditions for the day, it gave Rhys some awesome driving experience on a rapidly changing track, requiring some real focus and concentration to improve on his times.
He started too cautiously but by the third run had the car tuned in and track worked out, finishing 21/44 overall. A 1:33:18 in the final run, being his best time of the day. If he hadn’t changed from 1st to 4th gear off the mark, he would have broken into the 1:2x’s for sure😉
He is super excited for next year. Rhys knows he can get plenty more out of the Subie after numerous upgrades the last few months. Big thanks again to Ralli Parts OZ, the driving lessons on the back roads clicked with Rhys today after run 2.
Rhys reckons he's just scratching the surface now of what’s possible with the Subie and super excited for next year.
He’ll be entering a few VCAS (Victorian Club Autocross Series) events, more WDCC/GMSC Khanacross events and with his Formula Vee really taking shape, next year is going to be a big one for Rhys 🤞
More Formula Vee updates coming during the Summer
His goal is to get as much time behind the wheel as possible.

Never seen it so dry, dusty and windy at GMSC for Round 8 of the Khanacross series on Sunday.
A howling northerly wind made sure the conditions didn’t improve much all day.
We made a few upgrades to the Subaru since last event to assist in rear traction and cornering control, big thanks to RALLIPARTS OZ, who worked all day on Rhys's car for us. He needs a bit more practise now to master the drift and throttle control again but I know it won't take long.
By the end of the day he was getting his groove back and doing a good job, however the conditions just didn't suit his RWD.
He had lots of fun and can't wait to spend more time behind the wheel with his new setup.
He finished 5th of 11 Juniors (only a few seconds behind 3rd) and 22/43 overall.
His lead in the championship is now 9 points, were hoping for some decent rain on the track before the next couple of events to round out the year.
Rhys’s next Event is in 3 weeks at Avalon for his first VCAS Autocross Speed Event which he is eligible for now that he has turned 14 and received his junior speed license. It's a rolling start so faster and can use more gears.
