🚲 Now Hiring: Senior Bike Mechanic
📍 Melbourne | Full-Time | Starting from Mid-September

The Rapid Wrench is Melbourne’s premier mobile bike workshop — and we’re on the hunt for a highly experienced and customer-focused mechanic to join our team.
This isn’t your typical bicycle shop role. It’s hands-on, independent, and out on the road in a fully equipped mobile workshop van. If you love solving problems, working solo, and delivering exceptional service and convenience to fellow cyclists — this is the role for you.

🔧 Requirements (Non-Negotiable):
✅ Minimum 5 years full-time experience as a professional bike mechanic
✅ Proficient in a broad scope of bike mechanics - able to work on mountain & road, old & new
✅ Able to work independently and think on your feet with, at times, limited resources
✅ Confident driving manual vehicles (Renault Trafic)
✅ Clean driving record and valid licence
✅ Must have safe off-street parking for the company van overnight
✅ Comfortable working outside in all weather (within reason — our work vehicle enables a dry workspace)

⭐ Preferred Experience:
➕ Cargo bike / trike servicing experience (a big plus — we specialise in this area!)
➕ Working knowledge of Bosch, Bafang, and Shimano e-bike systems
➕ Working knowledge of Di2, eTap, EPS, LTwoo and similar electric gear systems
➕ Additional training, certifications, or advanced mechanic courses

Today's 2D bike rack installation. Customer requested up high and fully out of the way of car doors. Came up a treat!

Plenty of motorcycle transport jobs coming through lately. This one we picked up from Preston, delivered to Willow Grove in Gippsland, and did a job in Cranbourne in between. Not as easy working on bikes with a moto hiding in the back but we manage!

Our home made folding and telescoping hand winch work stand is still going strong 💪 Matt in action lifting a heavy cargo e-bike.

Plenty of work for schools happening, as usual. 4 schools this fortnight! These 42 bikes came straight from the bike shop and are all brand new, but they all were built horribly. Even the wheel nuts were all pretty much undone. Ridiculous and unsafe. It didn't take long to get these all up to a high standard.
Bike shops need to care for each and every bike they sell.

Taking the bike doesn't happen anywhere near enough when we drive our mobile van workshop around. But when it does happen, it feels great!

Occasionally we do a motor rebuild. Just most common mid drives for now. Lots of complicated moving bits and things to try not to upset! Not for the faint of heart bike mechanics 🫣💪
