From Victorian Youth Girls to the international stage.
Harmony, Iron, and Tyra earned starting jerseys for in their match against Tonga yesterday, while Marilyn and Taheela brought impact from the bench.
Five athletes, all shaped through Victorian representative pathways.
And leading the side HER Rugby Academy Co-Founder as Head Coach.
Samoa came away with the win, 50-5.
Proof that talent, leadership, and opportunity continue to grow here in Victoria.
We couldn’t be prouder.

The same person building opportunities at home…
now leading on the international stage.
HER Rugby Academy Co-Founder will be Head Coach of Manusina this weekend, a reflection of the impact she continues to have across every level of the game.
Our players don’t just learn rugby, they learn from leaders like this.

From Victorian pathways to the international stage.
Massive congratulations to Melbourne University Rugby FC Tiarah Minns on being named starting lock for the Wallaroos this weekend against Canada Women’s Rugby Team in the Pacific Four Series.
We were lucky enough to have Tiarah in with our Academy athletes, sharing her story, her lessons, and what it takes to reach this level.
Our girls got to see what’s possible, up close. If you can see it, you can be it.

At HER, strength isn’t one size.
It’s built, owned, and worn differently by every athlete.

The theme for the UN International Women’s Day 2026 is Balance the Scales.
For a long time, the scales in sport haven’t been balanced.
Less opportunity.
Fewer pathways.
Unequal visibility.
Change doesn’t come from waiting, it comes from building.
Every girls who steps on the field, every coach who gives their time, and every supporter who backs women’s rugby helps shift the weight.
This International Women’s Day, we keep pushing to Balance the Scales.

From picking up rugby at 18 to founding the Victorian Asian Rugby Club and being selected for the 2026 Rugby Australia Female Leadership Program, Tiffany Leung’s journey shows how far rugby can take you, on and off the field.
“I realised there was a sport where every body type had a place”
Rugby quickly became more than just a game.
Through leadership roles within her club and the wider rugby community, Tiff discovered opportunities that went far beyond playing.
“I started attending meetings with governing bodies, sponsors and businesses, it opened my eyes to how much more there is to rugby than just being an athlete.”
With no field access, no funding and no established connections, Tiff built the Victorian Asian Rugby Club from the ground up, driven by a belief that representation matters.
“If I, as an Asian girl, can thrive in rugby, everyone else can too.”
For Tiff, the future of women’s rugby in Victoria is about opportunity. Stronger competitions, clearer pathways, and more girls seeing what’s possible through the game.
And she believes programs like HER Rugby Academy play an important role in that future.
“It’s important for girls to have role models to look up to, so they understand why they’re training and what they’re working towards.”
Leadership. Representation. Opportunity.
This is HERstory

During our program we had a conversation that doesn’t happen enough. Breast protection.
Rugby is a collision sport. Female bodies, limited research and real risk of injuries.
Steph from came into our Academy space to educate, answer questions and challenge the norm around how we protect women in contact sport.
We’re grateful FemPro left us with product that some of our athletes will be trying out throughout the upcoming season.
Growing the women’s game isn’t just about pathways and performance.
It’s about protection too.

What growth looks like. Collaboration. Curiosity. Cross code learning.
We had AFL athletes in the mix learning how footwork translates and deception transfers. Details win moments no matter the sport.
Stay tuned for the vid drops!
