⛳ Gardiners Run Back 9 | Stroke Play Golf in Melbourne

The Back 9 at Gardiners Run is now live on YouTube! 🎥⛳

It was a freezing start, but once the sun came out we were treated to a beautiful Melbourne winter’s day — and Gardiners Run was in great condition.

This back nine had a bit of everything: bunker trouble, missed opportunities, some questionable approaches, a couple of important par saves and a very welcome 5-metre birdie putt.

We even had a kangaroo make its way across the fairway on the 12th. 🦘

I finished the back nine a few over par, but there were definitely opportunities to make that number a little better.

The match continues at Rossdale Golf Club in Aspendale, Melbourne — and this time we’re playing to a finish. 👀

After a Front 9 that we jokingly described as a bit of a “pillow fight”, James and Kurt head to the closing nine holes with everything still to play for.

Rossdale was in fantastic condition for the middle of a Melbourne winter, but ultimately there can only be one winner…

James and Kurt head onto the Back 9 at Rossdale Golf Club with plenty still to play for.

The golf during the opening nine may have earned the description “pillow fight” 😂, but the match remained very much alive.

Rossdale itself was outstanding for the middle of winter — beautiful fairways, excellent greens, immaculate bunkers and virtually no mud anywhere.

The Front 9 from Rossdale Golf Club, Aspendale is now live. 🎥

A beautiful Melbourne winter day, an incredibly well-presented golf course…and two golfers who weren’t exactly producing their best stuff. 😂

We eventually described this one as a bit of a “pillow fight”, but that didn’t stop the match from getting interesting.

Rossdale was seriously impressive for the middle of winter — firm fairways, excellent greens, beautifully groomed bunkers and virtually no mud anywhere.

⛳ Match Play at Rossdale Golf Club | Front 9

A perfect Melbourne winter day for a little one-on-one match play.

Kurt and I headed to Rossdale Golf Club in Aspendale for the Front 9, and while neither of us would describe the golf as our finest work — there may have been references to a “pillow fight” 😂 — the course itself was in absolutely superb condition.

Middle of winter, around 14°C, plenty of sunshine, firm fairways, excellent greens, beautifully presented bunkers and virtually no mud anywhere.

The golf might not always have been pretty…but the match stayed interesting. 👀

⛳ Play a Hole with Me | Rossdale Golf Club

This time we are at Rossdale Golf Club in Aspendale, taking on the 113-metre par-3 3rd hole.

It may be short on the scorecard, but par 3s still demand the right club, a committed swing and good distance control.

🏌️ Malvern Valley Back 9 | 2-Man Scramble

Mario and I took on the Back 9 at Malvern Valley Public Golf Course in a 2-man scramble.

After playing the Front 9 off camera, we headed into the closing nine hoping to improve our performance. It was a pleasant winter’s day of around 14°C, although the wind came up early and made conditions a little more challenging.

Malvern Valley is a shorter public-access course located around 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD, but it is a lot of fun to play.

Course works also changed the layout on the day, with the regular 18th closed and the par-5 15th temporarily split into a par 4 and a par 3.

We also shared the round with two local members who were great company throughout.

Did we improve on our Front 9 result? The final score is revealed after the last hole.
