A huge congratulations to our amazing student teacher, Miss Jess, who won the National DanceStep Leadership Award for Initiative on Sunday in Perth 🌟
Jess attended the DanceStep Leadership Summit with Miss Lisa and Miss Ashleigh where she heard from different speakers and met student teachers from across Australia.
Jess is a student teacher for our North Rocks preschool and primary classes and has taught classes at our holiday workshops at our Melrose Park studio.
We are so proud of Jess and all her efforts guiding our young students as well as her peers and love seeing her confidence grow while becoming a leader at JumpPA ❤️

Got a shy little one in Melrose Park or North Rocks and wondering if a preschool dance class is really the right fit for them?
Here’s what actually helps and what most parents try first that accidentally makes it harder.
🌟What to avoid: Arriving after class has started and calling out instructions from the side. This one’s so understandable, life with little ones is unpredictable. But walking into a room that’s already moving, with a parent directing from the doorway, can make a nervous child freeze before they’ve even had a chance to settle in.
🌟Worth trying: Getting down on their level and doing the activity with them. Joining the obstacle course side by side tells them the space is safe. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference.
🌟Even better: Arriving 5 minutes early. Before the room fills up, before the music starts. We greet every child and that quiet hello before class begins? It changes everything.
From inside the class, here’s what I see: the child who arrived clinging to mum quietly creeps a little closer. Then a little closer again. By the end of class, they’re in!
Shy doesn’t mean not ready. It just means they need a little more time and that’s something we genuinely know how to hold space for.
Your first class at Jump Performing Arts is free, with no obligation. DM us and we’ll find the right class for your little one. ❤️
