LONG POST ALERT *** 💜 Why We Support the WA Showcase 💜

Many of you know that Dancers United has been involved with the WA Showcase for many years, but some may not know how it all began and why it remains so important to us.

The WA Showcase was created with the spirit of bringing dancers together while raising funds for charity. It has always been about community, friendship, personal achievement and giving back. Over the years it has grown into a wonderful event that allows dancers to share their passion for line dancing while supporting worthwhile causes.

Since its inception, every dollar raised through the WA Showcase has been donated to charity. Funds have supported organisations including Daffodil Day, HeartKids, the Stroke Foundation, Parkinson's WA, and many more worthy charities over the years. This year, all funds raised from the event will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis WA. 18 of the largest WA clubs this supported the event by dancing or just watching and participating in the workshops and after the running costs we donated $4700 to this very worthy cause.

For Dancers United, the Showcase also carries a very special meaning. It allows us to honour the memory of one of the original creators of Dancers United, Clare Honey, whose dedication, passion and vision helped shape our club into what it is today. Clare's influence continues to be felt across our dance floor every week, and supporting the WA Showcase is one way we continue to honour her legacy.

It is important to remember that the WA Showcase is a charity event first and foremost. While dancers may choose to perform, compete or challenge themselves in different ways, participation is entirely a personal choice. Only a small number of our members enjoy that side of dancing, and we are proud of them for pursuing what they love.

However, the vast majority of our Dancers United family come for reasons that are just as important: exercise, friendship, laughter, music, mental wellbeing and fun. These values have always been at the heart of Dancers United and always will be.

We would also like to respectfully remind everyone that the WA Showcase should not be used detrimentally as a marketing tool for classes or as a way of promoting one aspect of line dancing over another. Participation in showcases and competitions is a choice, not an expectation. Dancers United supports every dancer equally, whether they choose to perform, compete, social dance, or simply attend classes for enjoyment, fitness and friendship.

Our club has always been about supporting one another, celebrating individual achievements, and creating a welcoming community where everyone can enjoy dancing in their own way.

Thank you for continuing to support Dancers United and the charitable work that the WA Showcase makes possible. Most importantly, thank you for helping us maintain the caring, inclusive and fun environment that Clare Honey helped create.
