Interclub billiards this week resulted in wins to RSL Green and RSL Gold.
Due to their convincing win, RSL Gold have grabbed top place on the ladder from RSL Green. With only three games to go before the finals, the top places are now wide open but RSL Green are very consistent and definitely the team to beat.
Three players topped the 300 point score this week - Joe Sa’u with 301, Peter Gray 305 with the highest being Malakai Durbidge 322.
Was fantastic that Phil Steel-Wilson returned after a recent medical episode - welcome back Phil.

We did the draw today for the RSL Club championship billiards tournament.
No timed games, rounds 1 & 2 are 250 up, semi-finals 300, grand final 500.
All games are played from scratch (no handicaps).

Week #5 of our interclub billiards competition resulted in a strong win by RSL Gold over Red Cliffs Gold however the upset this week was the win by Red Cliffs Black over top side RSL Green. This is the first win this season for the Red Cliffs Black team and a fantastic result under the leadership of acting captain Lachy Niemann.
Most games this week were very close with margins for five of the eight matches all less than 20 points.
Tom Songput was the only player this week, including handicaps, to break the 300 point milestone - well done Tom.
Excluding handicaps, four players scored over 200 points - Tom (205), Lindsay Rolton (206), Greg Smythe (246) & Kevin Rogers (275).
Joe Sa’u hit a a great break of 31 and Greg Smythe knocked in a 56, the highest to date this season.
Phil Steel-Wilson had an medical incident last Sunday but it’s fantastic news that he’s received the appropriate treatment and is well on the road to recovery. Hopefully Phil will be well enough really soon to whack the balls around once again on the green baize.

Mildura RSL billiards club championship - thanks everyone, entries have now closed.
Entries are open for the 2026 Mildura RSL billiards club championship.
This is a seeded scratch tournament (no handicaps) with preliminary games played to 250 points, semi-finals to 300 and the final to 500 points.
The winner will have their name added to the honour board in the RSL snooker room.

There is no cost to enter however you must be a financial member of the Mildura RSL Sub-Branch.

In the 4th week of interclub billiards, RSL Green and Red Cliffs Gold both had strong wins and now hold the top two positions on the ladder.
Warren Henderson continues to play great billiards and had another win this week and as a result, his handicap will again he reduced.
Welcome back to Rod Jones and Sean O’Meara, both played their first games for this season.
Kevin Rogers remains undefeated with four wins from his four matches.
Five players topped the 300 point score this week - Peter Gray with 301, Sean O’Meara 307, Joe Sa’u 316, Darren Murnane 337 with the highest being Lindsay Rolton 340.

Interesting start to interclub billiards - in week one, RSL Gold beat RSL Green 4/0, then in week two, Red Cliffs Gold def RSL Gold 3/1 but in week 3, RSL Green defeated Red Cliffs Gold 4/0.
Warren Henderson & Joe Sa’u both had good wins again this week while Greg Smythe handed Peter Gray his first loss for this year.
Larry Gathercole & Phil Steel-Wilson both played their first games for this season while Zac Casey had a win playing his first ever interclub billiards match - well done Zac.
Tom Songput had a 105 points start on Kevin Rogers and played an exceptional game, maintaining the lead throughout the match. Tom was 21 points in front near the end but Kevin hit up a 25 break to lead by 4 points when the buzzer rang to end the match.
