When you accidentally show up to training in matching shirts...

Round 4 - 3rd November
Dragons faced Cheetahs Green for the first time this season.
Dragons batted first, with Alayne and Kaitlin getting on base with a drop 3rd strike and a walk, respectively. Stevie smacked a double to left field, bringing Alayne home. Jayde earned 2 RBI's when she surprised everyone (including herself) with a MASSIVE hit to deep centre-right for a home run. Kirstyn got a hit and a stolen base before the innings was out. Dragons scored 5 runs.
With Bianca on placement in the NT, Stevie took on the role of pitcher for the first time. Samantha caught their first batter out in deep left. The batters got on top of the pitches, drilling in 3 runs quickly before Stevie earned her very first strikeout! Alayne threw to Kaitlin to catch their 9th batter stealing for the 3rd out. Cheetahs Green made 6 runs.
A short batting dig saw Kaitlin, Stevie, Lauren, and Samantha get on base. Kaitlin earned a hit, putting the ball into centre field. Stevie crossed the plate on Samantha's hit, earning one run for the innings.
All tied up going in to the bottom of the 2nd innings, Cheetahs Green earned three hits and two walks before Dragons got their first out, Kirstyn throwing to Stevie to get the out at home plate. Cheetahs got through their lineup, with the last two outs drop third strikes thrown to Alayne for the out at one. Cheetahs Green copied their first innings, scoring 6 runs.
Erin drew a walk to get on base in the 3rd innings. Nerol followed her with a hit to right field. We had two on base with one out when Kaitlin smacked a linedrive that was plucked out of the air by the shortstop and thrown to 2nd to get the runner out and retire the side.
Cheetahs Green went back to the batting box, and stepped on the gas. Kaitlin came in to relieve Stevie, pitching longer than she ever has before. Dragons got a nice out early on, fielder's choice Stevie at short stop to Lauren at 3rd base. Kaitlin must have been putting them in the zone, because Cheetahs kept hitting that ball around. Congrats to Bec for her triple and Hannah for her homerun. Time & Game was called at 3pm and the final score was 23 - 6.
Thank-you to Cheetahs Green for a wonderful game played in great spirit. Dragons thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Round 3 saw Dragons face off against Rebels.
The team took the field first, and stealing the show was Lauren at 3rd base - catching a hard-hit line-drive & throwing to Alayne to get the out at first, THEN just one batter later, catching a fly ball for the 3rd out. Rebels scored 3 runs.
Dragons responded in the bottom of the innings with 2 runs scored. Kirstyn got a hit to left field. Congratulations to Erin and Samantha for being the first Dragons runs scored this season.
Back into the field and Bianca fought hard on the rubber, earning a strikeout and an assist. Shortstop Loren got an assist with a throw to Kaitlin for the out at one. Rebels scored 4 runs before they were retired.
Dragons once again batted through 8 players, drawing a few walks and forcing a few errors. Bianca got 2 stolen bases and Kirstyn got one RBI. The team scored 3 runs.
Top of the 3rd saw Rebels step on the gas - knocking the ball around the park, making the outfield work, and scoring quickly. With Bianca just about out of juice, Jayde was called in from centrefield to have a crack at pitching. Dragons managed 2 outs, but Rebels were too good and brought in 10 runs before declaring.
Things looked promising in the bottom of the 3rd, with Kaitlin, Bianca, & Lauren getting to first on walks, but the Rebels pitcher dug deep and finished the game with 2 strikeouts.
The final score was 17 - 5. The team had a tonne of fun. Thank-you Rebels for a wonderful game, and well done!

Dragons faced Monarchs in round one, fighting valiantly but going down 14-0. B pitched to Kirstyn, throwing one strikeout and keeping walks to a minimum. All Dragons got the bats swinging, with Alayne and Stevie getting hits. Big shout out to Vikki from Cheetahs for filling in and being a superstar at 3rd.
We may have lost, but fun was had by all. Thank-you Monarchs for a great first game.
