Sutherland Sharks Football Club president Greg O'Rourke is a recipient of the Charles Valentine Medal, one of the highest honours in NSW football.

O'Rourke received the award at Football NSW's 2025 Annual Gala Awards in recognition of more than two decades of work in football administration, from grassroots clubs in the Sutherland Shire to the national A-League.

His involvement in local football began as a player and coach with Heathcote and St John Bosco, before he became president of Barden Ridgebacks Football Club.

He went on to serve as president of the Sutherland Shire Football Association from 2008 to 2011, followed by five years as chairman of Football NSW.

Between 2016 and 2023, O'Rourke was commissioner of the A-League, overseeing a period that included the expansion of women's football and improvements to player conditions and pay.

He also played a role in negotiating a five-year collective bargaining agreement with the Professional Footballers Australia ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

O'Rourke became president of Sutherland Sharks in 2025 and was confirmed for another three-year term at the club's annual general meeting in May 2026.

The Charles Valentine Medal recognises individuals who have made an outstanding and lasting contribution to football in NSW.

HOW NORRIS GOT AWAY WITH IT πŸ€”

On its face, it was a CLEAR foul by Lando Norris on Oscar Piastri.

He couldn't make the corner in control of his car, and bundled Piastri out of the Singapore sprint in the process.

The fact the ambitious move was made on his teammate in pursuit of a SINGLE additional point β€” and no additional points for the team β€” makes it only more egregious.

And yet, somewhat sensationally, Norris had no case to answer with the FIA stewards, contrary to the general paddock sentiment.

Here's why he got away with it in a racing sense ... and why he may not have got away with it in another πŸ‘€
