Had a visit from good mate John Schofield and took him sightcasting to barra up at Teemburra with fly on the Humminbird Australia & New Zealand on the Xplore 12 .
Some good fish hooked landed and lost to pulled hooks and broken flyline in timber that certainly tested his new Orvis fly rod from .
Great to have you up here again mate always a pleasure having a fish and laugh with you .

Was great to get out and pursue some of my favourite flats fish on fly again landing 3 from 4 hooked. It's been a tough year so far weather wise. If you want to see and have shots at Mackay's population you have until December because there won't be a 2027 season with me, a few tide slots left before it's all over,unless someone wants to take the reins and move forward with the business.

Guided again after many years,started him on barra sightcasting them off the Humminbird Australia & New Zealand , then on the flats for permit.
He had shots at permit but they did what permit do and played hard to get. He landed a small Gt sightcast off a ray, then got to see a huge Queensland Groper up close in about a half metre of water. A truly amazing sight to see these huge fish on the flats.

Eric was in the # for work. He's an avid fly fisher and was keen to do some flats fishing.  Unfortunately the strong winds and showers in the days before the booking made for poor visibility. 

Change to plan B and sightcasting to barra with the .

I fished him on Kinchant early for 2 89cm fish landed and a few missed , then up to Teemburra for a fiesty 80cm fish and a great 103 cm fish along with many followers and refusals for the afternoon session. 

 A pleasure guiding you mate and watching you get the meter barra that was well deserved 👏.

15 year old Rey is on holiday from SA , he'd never caught a fish on a topwater lure before , he loved catching the Queenfish on poppers. A great topwater session with some landed and lost. A pleasure guiding you mate and teaching you some new techniques.

Jim is in Mackay for work , he caught his first barra on fly with me at Kinchant a few weeks ago.
I was telling him about Teemburra and he was keen to see and fish it as well.
His first Teemburra barra on fly went 103 cm.

Nick landed his first permit here in the , he got to see and have shots at plenty of permit and witnessed some great tailing action, had shots at fussy Tuskies and Harry Hotlips , if you've ever wanted to flyfish the Mackay region flats for permit or other species 2026 will be the last year you'll have a chance , there won't be a 2027 season with me.
