Rich River Croquet Club

Rich River Croquet Club Rich River Croquet Club has around 55 members and we are always pleased to welcome visitors. Practice from 11am then names in by 12.30pm for 1pm comp.

Three kinds of Croquet are played:

• Association Croquet is played Wednesdays and Saturdays. from April till the end October. From November to end March 9.00 a.m. for 9.30 comp start. Golf Croquet players are welcome to practice on both Association days.

• Golf Croquet is played Tuesdays and Thursdays. Names in by 9am for 9.30am start.

• Kingball is played once a month

Rich River Croquet Club has 4 'A' courts and another that can be prepared for special events. The Club is located behind the Bowling Club adjacent to the driving range. Cold winds nullified the sunshine this morning with fifteen members playing Handicap Singles Croquet. After game two five people had won all their matches and the winner was not decided until after the third game. Congratulations to the Winner Helen Brierley who was the only player to win all 3 games (3g+9h) and the Runner-up Ian Fisher who scored 2 games +4 hoops.

Rich River Kangas v Numurkah

The first Single games played saw Rich River Kangas take the lead with 3 games 27 hoops to Numurkah score of 1 game 22 hoops.

The Reverse Single games saw Numurkah fight back scoring 2 games 25 hoops against Rich River Kanga’s score of 2 games 23 hoops.

It was then onto the Double matches where the Rich River Kangas played well and won three of the four games.

Kanga’s team players, Dave Maher, Sandra Retallick, Michael Hawkens, and Helen Brierley were very competitive against the Numurkah team of Graham Tyack, Pauline Sloane, Keith Sloane and Ruth Cashin. The final scores saw the Kangas win 8 games 76 hoops against Numurkah’s 4 games 65 hoops.

Nine members played Doubles Croquet this morning. Congratulations to the Winner Russell Clarke the only player to win all three games scoring 3 games +14 hoops. The Runner-up was John Hill scoring 2 games +3 hoops.

Kingball Croquet was the game played on this lovely spring morning, with 16 people enjoying the game. Kingball is a combination of Association and Golf Croquet and is played individually in a group of four players. Congratulations to the Winner Carmel Rice and the Runner-up Pat Rice who both played well and were the only players to win all 3 games. Carmel scored 3 games +16 hoops and Pat scored 3 games +15 hoops. Hoops-in-One were made by Helen Smith and John Hill.

Nine members played Doubles Croquet this morning. Congratulations to the Winner Doc Ryant the only player to win all three games scoring 3 games +7 hoops. The Runner-up was Kerri Ryant scoring 2 games +3 hoops. Russell Clarke was the only player to make two Jump Shots.

Rich River Golf Croquet - Tuesday 1/09/2026

The first day of Spring was just perfect for playing Doubles Croquet with eighteen players enjoying the weather and the friendly competition between players. Three players won all three games; Sandra Retallick, John Quayle and Darren McLoughlin. The winner was Darrin McLoughlin scoring 3 games +13 hoops, and the Runner-up was John Quayle scoring 3 games +7 hoops. John Hill was in fine form making a successful Jump Shot that won his game much to his opponents dismay.

Rich River Golf Croquet - Thursday 27/08/2026

Seventeen people played Singles Croquet this morning, including four visitors, two from Sandringham and two from Horsham. With four players winning all 3 games; Leon Koch, Doc Ryant, Russell Clarke, David Budge and Garry. The Winner was decided on a count-back with Leon Koch taking first place and Doc Ryant declared Runner-up. All four players were in fine form, but congratulations goes to Leon and Doc.

Fourteen players, including three visitors David and Jill Budge from Sandringham and Terry from Bendigo competed at Croquet this morning. The visitors were in fine form with David and Jill Budge winning all three of their games. The Winner was David Budge scoring 3 games + 10 hoops and the Runner-up was Jill Budge scoring 3 games +7 hoops.
