Experts from the People’s Republic of the Northern Beaches are calling this greatest loophole discovered since ‘client golf’, an entire Friday on the course that can legitimately be described as helping the community!!
In an extraordinary act of community service, Sydney residents are being asked to do something almost unimaginable:
Play golf.
For an entire day.
At Bayview Golf Club.
For charity to support The Women's Resilience Centre.
If the People’s Republic can generate 600 comments arguing about whether Dee Why is technically “the Peninsula”, we can surely get a few thousand eyeballs onto an chairty organisation helping women rebuild their lives.
Several local men have already informed their families that, while they would obviously rather be at home doing jobs around the house, sometimes you simply have to put others first.
“This isn’t about me,” said one local father while quietly cleaning his clubs for the third time. “It’s about giving back.” He then booked the Friday off work and bought a new polo.
The charity Golf Day is for the Women’s Resilience Centre, a national service that supports women recovering from domestic abuse and trauma, providing free programs designed to help women rebuild confidence, wellbeing, and independence and their lives. Click the link below to learn more.
Their 2026 Annual Golf Day is happening at Bayview Golf Club on Friday 16 October — an 18-hole Ambrose event where the money raised helps fund recovery programs for women and families. You can enter a team of four or register individually, with registrations closing 9 October.
Which means, for perhaps the first time in Northern Beaches history, disappearing for six hours with three mates, hitting things into vegetation and returning home smelling faintly of schooners can be presented as legitimate philanthropy.
There will undoubtedly be people arriving from all around Sydney with $4,000 worth of equipment capable of correcting everything except the person holding it.
There will be handicaps discussed with the seriousness of Royal Commission evidence.
There will be at least one bloke who says, “I haven’t played in ages,” immediately before hitting a 260-metre drive.
There will be another bloke dressed head-to-toe like he’s playing the final round at Augusta who spends most of the afternoon searching for a Titleist somewhere near Mona Vale Road.
And somewhere around the 14th hole, somebody who bought a driver three weeks ago will begin explaining that his old clubs were “actually holding him back”.
Fine. Let them. Because this time all that competitive peacocking is helping fund something that actually matters.
LIKE THIS POST. SHARE IT and TAG the golfers in your life who have spent years claiming golf is good for their mental health and finally make them prove that questionable handicap.
Even if you don’t play golf, sharing this costs absolutely nothing. It raises awareness for those who need the Women’s Resilience Centre someday and may put the event in front of somebody who does.
