Great Noosa Trail Walk The Great Noosa Trail Walk is 1 Day or 3 Day Hike on foot with like-minded adventure lovers 🥾🌳🏕

The trail traverses the country towns of Cooroy, Pomona, Cooran and Kin Kin via a series of dedicated walking trails through farmlands, natural forests and spectacular lookouts of the hinterland through to the ocean. Walkers adventure at their own pace with ample time to enjoy the landscape, local cafes and antique shops enroute. A good level of walking fitness is required, but this is not a race, plenty of time is allowed to complete each days walk. We recommend training on hills twice a week in preparation - as Day 2 in particular, has some steep but very scenic terrain! Volunteer trail guides join walkers along the way, led by event founder Shaun Walsh, providing assistance and information about the history and landscape. Camping accommodation is provided in camping grounds in Kin Kin and Cooran or alternatively accommodation is available for you to book at your own expense, at numerous guest houses. A shuttle bus will transfer all camping gear, as well as be available to collect tired walkers. The number of walkers is limited to ensure a successful and well co-ordinated event and maintain a friendly community atmosphere.

Tired legs, great music and plenty of smiles!

The Great Noosa Trail Walk wasn't just about the kilometres we walked — it was also about the wonderful moments we shared when the walking was done!

A huge thank you to Tracey and her amazing crew from EveryBody Healing Kin Kin, who looked after our tired hikers on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings.

They were booked out solid! Those massages were certainly appreciated after some challenging kilometres on the trail. Thank you for your care and those hardworking hands!

And then there was the entertainment! 🎶

Amy from The Mary Rivers, booked through Love Note live music, was an absolute hit at our Saturday night dinner in Kin Kin.

From one music genre to another, Amy had us singing along, smiling and doing plenty of chair dancing — because let's face it, after Day 1, getting up to dance was a big ask!

To Tracey, her wonderful team and Amy — the Mary Rivers, thank you for bringing a little extra magic to our weekend.

It's these moments that make the Great Noosa Trail Walk so much more than just a walk.

Behind every great event are some wonderful supporters!

A big thank you to Noosa Council and Noosa Tourism for helping make the 2026 Great Noosa Trail Walk possible.

Noosa Council supported us with permits, safety planning and navigating some unexpected track closures and route changes. Their guidance helped us keep our hikers safe and our event on track.

Noosa Tourism played a wonderful role in promoting the GNTW throughout 2026, both locally and interstate.

We especially enjoyed attending their local Buzz Night, connecting with other business owners and sharing our passion for the walk with the wonderful local tourism information volunteers.

And to those volunteers who joined us on the trail this year — thank you! We hope you loved experiencing the Noosa Hinterland on foot and will help us spread the word for 2027.

We're incredibly grateful for the support that helps bring hikers, businesses and communities together.

🥾🌿 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐍𝐎𝐎𝐒𝐀 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐋 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔! 💗🚶‍♀️ This 56km multi-day walk is always a sellout of over 200 and no wonder! 😍 Chatting with walkers as I helped serve up an amazing brekky 🍳☕ of goodies from Jodie, Matt Golinski - Official and their fab volly team on Day 2, the reasons are all different, as well as where they came from! 💗 All ages, some doing 1 day (like I did a few years ago! 😂), others all days, the constant message was to get out, breathe and enjoy the beautiful diverse scenery 🌳🌻 and camaraderie of fellow walkers and strollers. 🥰 Best of all, you don’t have to carry your gear between locations, only your water bottle 💧 and a love of exploring! 🥾 Congratulations to Bob, Tracy and the Trail Trekkers team, the again fab volunteers from Kin Kin Community Group Inc and residents between Kin Kin, Cooran and Lake Macdonald who assisted in making wonderful memories for participants! 👏💗

A little morning tea, a lot of community spirit!

One of the highlights of Day 1 was arriving at the Cooroy Pomona Lions Club Pop-Up Tea House, tucked away in the bush.

What a welcome! Delicious homemade treats, smiling faces and an atmosphere that gave our hikers just the lift they needed.

A special thank you to Nick, who worked closely with us in the lead-up to make sure everything was just right for our hikers.

And the best part? The funds raised through the Tea House, already included in your registration fees, go straight back into supporting local communities.

Then, at the other end of our adventure, the Pomona Art Gallery generously provided a safe space and a watchful eye over our hikers' luggage while everyone enjoyed a well-earned celebration at the local Pomona pub or Pomona Distillery.

To the Cooroy Pomona Lions Club and Pomona Art Gallery, thank you for your generosity, hospitality and community spirit.

It's these little extras, made possible by wonderful local people, that make the Great Noosa Trail Walk so special.

Behind every great walk is a great community!

Our Great Noosa Trail Walk adventure began at the Cooroy Butter Factory, where we were welcomed to use their veranda, tables, chairs and bathrooms as we checked in over 200 excited hikers.

A huge thank you for providing such a wonderful gathering place to start our weekend!

And then there was the luggage... lots and lots of luggage!

Enter Les and his amazing Eumundi Rotary Club team, who took on the enormous task of transporting everyone's bags from town to town, making sure they were waiting for our hikers at the end of each day.

We reckon these guys need six months of training just to prepare for the luggage workout!

To the Cooroy Butter Factory, Les and the Eumundi Rotary volunteers — thank you for the time, energy and generosity you gave to make our weekend run so smoothly.

It's these wonderful community partnerships that make the Great Noosa Trail Walk so special.

We couldn't do it without you!

Two towns, two wonderful communities and a whole lot of country hospitality!

One of the things that makes the Great Noosa Trail Walk so special is the communities who welcome us along the way.

On Saturday, the Kin Kin Community Group opened their arms to our tired hikers, serving a beautiful dinner designed and cooked by Jodie Williams and Matt Golinski. The following morning, they were up early preparing a hearty breakfast and packed lunches to keep us going on Day 2.

Then it was Cooran's turn!

Sharon and the Cooran Cutters Football Club community welcomed us with food trucks, an open bar, plenty of smiles and the NRL Grand Final on the big screen. And yes, they were back bright and early Monday morning with another delicious breakfast before our final day on the trail!

What makes this even more special is that the Great Noosa Trail Walk is an important fundraiser for both communities.

To everyone in Kin Kin and Cooran who cooked, served, organised, cleaned up and made us feel so welcome — THANK YOU!

You didn't just feed our hikers. You helped create the friendships, laughter and memories that make this weekend so special.

This is what community is all about.

So… which one was better?

On Day 1, the Cooroy Pomona Lions Club Pop-Up Tea House appeared along the trail — and WOW!

The food was incredible, the welcome was even better and the energy as our hikers arrived was just what tired legs needed.

Then came Day 2…

And there was Bob, handing out Zooper Doopers to hot and weary hikers like they were gold!

That night I asked the very important question…

“Which was better — the amazing Lions morning tea or Bob’s Zooper Doopers?”

I’m not sure we ever got a definitive answer!

What we do know is that sometimes it’s these little moments of kindness, food, laughter and an unexpected treat along the trail that become some of the best memories.

A huge thank you to the Cooroy Pomona Lions Club for creating such a wonderful stop for our hikers.

And Bob… those Zooper Doopers were pretty well timed!

GNTW hikers — time to settle it.

Some people came to the Great Noosa Trail Walk carrying more than a backpack.

Tina and her friends joined us this year in memory of their dear friend Warren, known to them as Wobby.

Over three days they walked together, sharing stories, laughter and memories of Warren — his infectious laugh, his shenanigans and his love of adventure.

They also walked with a purpose.

Their goal was to raise $3,500 for Lifeline in Warren’s memory. With the incredible support of family and friends, they have now raised an amazing $4,594.

It was a privilege to have this group walking with us and to learn why this trail meant so much to them.

Every person who joined us over the weekend had their own reason for being there. Some stories made us laugh. Some inspired us. And some, like this one, remind us just how much it can mean to simply walk beside one another.

To Tina and your friends, thank you for allowing us to share Warren’s story.

And to Wobby — this weekend was for you.

Every Step. Every Story. Every Life Matters.

If you would still like to support their fundraiser, the Lifeline fundraising page remains open:

It all started with a question

Back on 19 January, Cathy contacted us and asked:

“Can we hire tents?”

She had six friends joining her, some travelling from NSW, and that little question got us thinking.

And so, with a little help from Cathy and her crew, our GNTW Bell Tent experience was born!

For the first time this year, hikers could book beautiful pre-erected bell tents for 2, 3 or 4 people.

Of course, there was one rather BIG logistical challenge… every tent had to be pulled down after Kin Kin, transported to Cooran and put up all over again!

Enter Paul and Brent from The Bell Tent Hire Co. Absolute powerhouses who made it happen.

And what about Cathy and her six adventurous friends?

They became the Moles with Poles — complete with their own very creative Mole names! 😂 I was even invited to become an honorary Casual Mole with a Pole.

These seven ladies embraced everything about the Great Noosa Trail Walk with smiles, adventure and plenty of laughter…oh and don’t forget their poles. 😉

So Cathy… thank you for asking the question.

Sometimes the best new ideas really do start with four simple words:

“Can we hire tents?”
