What an evening we had for our members and visitors. French theme evening, new club apparel arriving, Birthday celebration and great food. Not to forget some great running.

After more than two weeks, the World Masters Athletics championships have come to a close in South Korea.
Starting with an Opening ceremony to rival any Olympics (not quite), the competition was held in a friendly spirit.
The weather in Daegu was all over the place from hot (38°), humid (80%), rainy...we had it all.
Results for our Aberfeldie crew were sensational!

Ilana W35
100m Semi 12.47 Q(2nd), Final 12.29 4th but just 0.13 sec behind 1st.
200m Heat 25.18 Q(1st), Final 25.18 for Bronze
400m Semi 57.15 Q(2nd) Final 55.37 with an amazing last 50m GOLD!
4X100 relay

400m Heat 53.67 Q(1st) Semi 53.29 q, Final 53.35 for 6th
4 x 400 Anchor leg GOLD in 3:40.32

100m 17.71 (inj) DNP

Others to compete were Anna Kasapis, Andy Boudrie and Mark Giglio from Aths Ess.
Anna won the W45 1500,
Andrew picked up silver in the M40 4 x 400.
Mark picked up gold in Brett's relay team.

Aberfeldie Masters claims a World Master's Champion!
Ilana Grandine took out the final of the W35 400m with a stunning finishing burst in a time of 55.37.
She had advanced to the final with a Q in the semi, finishing 2nd in 57.15.

This was all done on top of 4th in the 100m final, just 0.13 seconds behind the winner and 3rd in the 200 final.

Australian Athletics Championships in Ballarat.
There were some fantastic performances by our Aberfeldie Runners who braved the challenging conditions to bring home the goods for the pool room. Our masters athletes ran the 4km course.

A clean sweep of the podium for Western A's women in the W60 race - the best cross country runners in the whole country. Huge congrats to all our runners!

Daegu 2026 WMA Championships
Unfortunately, Marlon's Korean campaign got off to a bad start in the 100m. Hopefully he can recover quickly for his next event.
