If you were told to stop doing certain exercises the moment you found out you were pregnant, you’re far from the only mum who’s been handed a list of rules without any explanation behind them.

We love how Sarah from Women’s Fitness & Health Professional talks about this, because she’s lived it. Through her own pregnancies she learnt that a movement which felt great one week could feel completely different the next. What she discovered was that this didn’t always mean stopping, it often meant changing how she did it.

A flat bench chest press became an incline chest press, a bird dog became a tabletop two-point balance extension and those small changes meant she could keep moving and stay strong through each stage of her pregnancy.

This is the heart of how MumSafe Trainers work with pregnant women. Rather than handing you a list of dos and don’ts, they help you understand your options, the signs worth paying attention to and how to adapt when your body is asking for something different, so you can feel confident making decisions about your own training.

If you’d love support like this close to home, head to mumsafemovement.com to find a MumSafe Trainer near you. You can also follow Women’s Fitness & Health Professional for more of Sarah’s pregnancy training tips ❀️

Not every trainer is the right trainer for a mum.

And that is okay, but it matters more than most people realise when you are in a season of life that is already asking so much of you.

The right trainer gets it, the exhaustion, recovery, mental load, goals that have nothing to do with how you look and everything to do with how you feel. They ask how you are doing before they ask how hard you want to train. They slow down when life gets hard and they celebrate you for showing up even on the days when that was the hardest part.

Swipe through to see exactly what that looks like in practice πŸ‘‰

If that is the kind of support you have been looking for, you know where to find us. Head to mumsafemovement.com to find your local trainer ❀️

If your baby has died, you are still postnatal and we don't think we talk about this aspect enough.

Your body is recovering from pregnancy and birth in exactly the same way it would be if you were bringing your baby home, even though the world around you might not treat it that way. Your recovery deserves the same care, patience and support, regardless of the outcome.

If you're in this season and the thought of a room full of mums and prams feels like too much right now, we want you to know this is completely understandable and it doesn't mean you're shut out of support.

Our trainers offer one on one support at a time away from other mums and babies, at hours that work for you, so you can receive the postpartum care your body needs without having to be around a room that might not feel right for you right now.

If this is you, please head to mumsafemovement.com to find your local trainer, you don't have to explain yourself and you don't have to be ready to talk about it. Just let us know you would like postnatal support at a time when there are no other mums and babies around (if that's what you want) and we will make sure you're supported β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

So many of us freeze around a friend's loss because we're scared of saying the wrong thing and that fear can end up looking like silence, which often hurts more than an imperfect sentence ever would.

Save this for the friend who needs it or send it to her directly β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

There is no correct timeline for this kind of loss. Some mums feel able to talk about it openly within months, others don't speak about it for years before they're ready to and both of those are normal. What feels manageable one day, week, month or year can feel raw again the next, especially around dates that are significant.

And if you’re the friend supporting someone through baby loss, please don’t feel like you have to help her β€œget over it.” You can simply keep showing up, ask how she’s doing, remember her baby, let her decide whether she wants to talk and keep checking in even when months or years have passed and everyone else seems to have stopped asking ❀️

This week is Baby Loss Awareness Week and we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge it here.

For some of you reading this, pregnancy and baby loss is part of your story, whether this is a miscarriage, an ectopic pregnancy, a loss later in pregnancy or the death of a baby. For others, it might be the story of a friend, a sister or a client who has trusted you with it. Either way, this week exists to make space for something that so often gets carried in silence.

Baby Loss Awareness Week has three aims: remembrance, raising awareness and driving change in the care and support available to families. Over the next few days, we want to use this space to raise awareness of all three.

If this week touches your own story, we see you and you don't have to carry it alone. Also please look after yourself and only consume information that feels supportive - it's okay to skip this conversation ❀️
