🚲 THE WAIT IS OVER... CRANK UP COURAGE HAS SHIFTED INTO TOP GEAR! 🚲
About a month ago, we teased that something exciting was happening behind the scenes. Today, I can finally share the news...
Crank Up Courage has officially opened a second location at Ferntree Gully North Primary School! 🎉
This means families in Ferntree Gully and Melbourne’s eastern suburbs can now access our confidence-building bike lessons much closer to home.
Whether your child is ready to leave the training wheels behind, needs help building confidence on two wheels, or wants to develop safer and more controlled riding skills, we’re ready to help turn their Wobbles into Wins! 💪🚲
This video captures some of the fun from our first sessions at the new location, and I couldn’t be happier with the space. It gives children plenty of room to learn, practice and challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
Our next Ferntree Gully sessions will be held on Saturday, 12 September, with bookings now open. Sessions at this location are currently confirmed only until the end of 2026, so if you’ve been waiting for a Crank Up Courage location closer to home, now is the perfect time to book!

🚲 We've had to shift into top gear for this one...
Something exciting has been happening behind the scenes at Crank Up Courage, and we can't wait to share it with you!
We've been working towards this milestone for quite some time, and it's going to help us support even more families.
The big reveal is coming very soon... 👀
Any guesses what it might be?
🚲⭐ DID YOU KNOW? ⭐🚲
One of the biggest mistakes parents make when helping their child learn to ride is focusing on the pedals too early.
Before children can confidently pedal, they first need to learn how to balance.
One of my favourite activities is the Gliding Challenge:
✅ Find a safe, flat area.
✅ Place a marker on the ground.
✅ See how far your child can glide before putting their feet down.
✅ Move the marker further away each time they beat it.
Why does it work?
🚲 Children discover that a little more speed actually makes balancing easier.
🚲 It builds confidence and control.
🚲 It gives them more practice steering while balanced.
🚲 They progress at a pace they're comfortable with.
🚲 It prepares them for independently starting the bike when they're ready.
The video below is my daughter Romy giving the challenge a go. She's been riding for a couple of years now, so don't compare your child to her distance. The goal is simply to beat your own personal best each time.
What I love about this challenge is that children see it as a game rather than practice.
I've worked with many children who were physically capable of riding but lacked the confidence to trust their balance. Sometimes the biggest hurdle isn't balance at all, it's confidence. The key is finding ways to keep practice fun, positive and pressure-free.
Remember, every extra metre of gliding is another step towards confident riding.
🚲 We turn Wobbles into Wins.

Hi Crank Up Courage community, you've seen me mentioning the White Bike Foundation throughout various posts. Now take a moment to let this important message sink in 🙏
Whatever mode of transport you're taking today (and every day), . 11 years today – never forgotten.
In 2015, Joel Hawkins was hit by a car while cycling on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia.
Joel was 17 years old and pursuing a dream when his journey was cut short.
We believe that everybody has the right to use the road safely and complete their journey.
The White Bike Foundation exists to drive respect on Australian roads for everybody who uses them.

Thanks to everyone who shared photos and videos as part of our recent campaign.
As promised, Crank Up Courage has made a donation of $140 to support the incredible work of the White Bike Foundation.
The White Bike Foundation aims to educate and protect all road users by funding school programs and awareness campaigns that promote mutual respect, visual awareness, and safety on the road.
Every photo, video and share helped spread the word and contributed to this donation.
Thank you for supporting both Crank Up Courage and this fantastic cause. 🚲💙

Progress update from a Crank Up Courage family.
"Riding is still a firm favourite daily activity here and today’s outing took us on a new challenge: the pump track.
Dec 31st- would not touch a pedal bike
Jan 1- Crank up Courage lesson: pedaling independently within 15 mins
April 4- nailing the pump track
What stands out to us is the confidence and control when wobbles happen.
Cannot thank you enough!"
We were privileged to be able to interview one of our courageous kids after a lesson! Now that she can ride, watch to the end to see what she wants to do when she gets home 😍
