Last Minute Racing

It’s an amazing class to be a part of. Big things are coming for Compacts in Australia.

Compact Speedcars have been evolving ever since the very first racing enthusiasts decided to create their own open wheel division, loosely based around karts with panels, in 1946. They were Gnats in those days and were intended to be an affordable class, which has continued through to today. Within 10 years, the class had become TQ’s (three quarter midgets) and a a set of rules and constitution was setup. Skip forward to 1972, and each of the states had agreed to form an overseeing Association to ensure that the class was a truely National class. While there may have been a few bumps in the road, the remaining states of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland have begun an exciting new era for Compact Speedcars in Australia. Stay tuned for more groundbreaking news as we get closer to the start of 2021/22 season.

We’ve dipped the toes into the virtual world of iRacing. I’m very stoked with how the replica looks, even though it took quite a few hours in photoshop. Now all I need to do is learn how to drive in the sim. It’s very different to the real thing. Thanks to Ash Media for the original design.

TBT: On this day, 4 years ago, we scooped the pool and took home more trophies in one night than I’d ever won before. It was a real team effort though. We’ve come close to getting on the trophy again, but missed by one last year. I’m looking forward to giving it another go, with one less number and a car engine this time around. 🏆🏁
