Studio Dre - Pineapples and Zucchinis Teaching skills to unleash the awesomeness in your kids. Specialist activities vary from Breakdancin Welcome to Pineapples and Zucchinis! Well it stuck!

We are a part of studio Dre that is centred around developing gross motor skills in young children, from the age of 1-10. We specialise in Breaking Dance and Ninjabilities classes. Many people ask me where did the name come from? It is an odd choice I guess! It started when I was teaching Kindy Gym classes at Challenge Stadium (now HBF stadium). Those who know me know that I like to make jokes all the time and I had started calling the students 'Pineapples and Zucchinis' for a bit of fun! All of my students started associating me with that and as some of them are now becoming young adults they still remember it! More about Studio Dre
Studio Dre is a venue for dedicated people learning awesome new moves. We offer a supportive and friendly environment so you can test your best! We started with a bit of breaking dance, threw in some ninjabilities and now we are looking at expanding into parkour, tricking and more! We offer dance and fitness classes from babies to adults, private and semi-private tuition and we would be a great host for your next party. We are also interested in hiring out our digs if you have a class you would like to teach – get in touch! About Andre
André Dias da Silva is the man behind Studio Dre. A qualified physical education teacher, former BBoy (break dancer) and a father of 2, Andre hails from the far away land of Brasil.

“I believe that learning is most successful when it is fun! Teaching gross motor skills from a young age is very important for development not only physical but also mentally, it keeps kid’s minds active and improves problem-solving skills. Not to mention the importance of social interactions that happen when kids are having fun together learning awesome new moves!”

In 2004 Andre completed a Bachelor degree of Physical Education, majoring in gymnastics. Since working in the field Andre has had vast experience teaching gymnastics and breaking dance, mentoring with kids and adults alike. Rest assured any coaches or assistants working at Studio Dre hold current certificates in both Senior First Aid and Resuscitation. Occasional accidents are unavoidable when learning tricky moves however we always practice and teach in the safest way possible.

“Learn how to spot a backflip with this short video!”

I’ve been seeing so many backflip tutorials popping up on my feed lately, but here’s something people seem to forget. Who’s going to catch you when things go wrong? 😳

A backflip is no joke! One bad landing can cause a life changing injury, paralysis or even worse.

Let me ask you something. Would you let a guy who dropped out of dental school in his first semester fix your teeth? 🦷😂

NO WAY! So why would you trust someone with no proper training to spot you while you’re flipping backwards through the air?

There’s a reason professional coaches spend years learning technique, progressions and how to keep their students safe.

Knowing how to backflip doesn’t automatically mean you know how to spot one!

And if you’re thinking, “Don’t worry, bro, my mate is stronger than me!” 😂

Mate, your friend might be able to bench press 150 kg, but that doesn’t mean he knows how to catch a flying human!

So before you volunteer to be someone’s spotter, watch this video and understand what’s involved. But remember, watching a short tutorial doesn’t qualify you to spot a backflip. Learn and practise under a qualified coach.

Train smart, look after your mates and remember, you’ve only got ONE neck!

Meet Jorge and Luciano, the twin brothers known as Faísca and Fumaça!

Today, people call them the grandfathers of breakdancing. You can see them performing on the streets of Rio de Janeiro, bringing happiness and putting smiles on children’s faces, all for free.

But let me tell you something about these two grandpas!

Back in the 90s, I had the privilege of hanging out with some of Brazil’s best acrobats, including PP, Anselmo, William Capeta and Cidinho. But Faísca and Fumaça were something else, man!

These guys didn’t need a competition, a stage or even grass to perform their flips. They were doing backflips everywhere! Walking down the street, jumping from one place to another, just like freerunners do today.

I remember back in 1996, at São Bento in São Paulo, they told me they could do a double backflip.

I said, “Well, show me then!”

And as we walked from São Bento to São João, these two were flipping their way through the streets!

That was 1996, man! Long before freerunning became popular in Brazil!

They were pioneers of incredible acrobatic movements, including the Paraquedas, and among the first to perform double backflips in Brazilian breaking circles.

They travelled the world performing with Brazilian superstar Daniela Mercury and inspired generations of dancers.

To me, these guys were the real ninjas of the 90s!

And here’s something personal. When I was younger, I thought these two were the coolest, best-looking guys around. I wanted to be just like them! Hahaha!

But seriously, I don’t consider myself a fan of Faísca and Fumaça.

I consider them my heroes.

These two deserve recognition, a place in Brazilian breaking history and a documentary telling their incredible story.

Today, children see two grandpas dancing in the streets.

But when I look at them, I still see the two young legends who amazed me back in 1996.

Time may have taken their youth, but it never took away their passion.

Jorge and Luciano, you guys are my heroes, man! Much love and respect! ❤️

Well, pretty much like this! 😂 The more I filter people out of my life, the fewer remain, and man, life is getting lighter!

But hey, you know what? I’m actually enjoying it!

It’s been a great opportunity to reconnect with some amazing people, bring back old friendships and spend more time with those who really matter.

Because one thing I’ve learned, my friends, is that genuine people stay! Simple as that!

And man, it feels good to be around people who share the same values, respect each other and genuinely want to see each other doing well.

Look, I don’t need everyone to agree with me, and I don’t need to agree with everyone either. That’s life! But respect, loyalty and good energy? Those things matter to me.

I’m not saying I’m better than anyone. I’m just saying that at this stage of my life, I don’t have time for unnecessary drama and bu****it! 😂

Less people, less headaches, more time for the good ones!

It’s not about losing people. It’s about finding peace.

And trust me, peace is priceless! ❤️

Anyway, that’s my 2026 so far!

What about you? How’s your 2026 going? Is your circle getting bigger or is your sieve working overtime too? 😂

So, your son or daughter wants your phone? 📱😅

Alright, show them this video! But here’s the deal: they have to complete this breaking sequence at least 5 TIMES before they can have Mum or Dad’s phone to play their favourite game! 😂

Recommended for kids aged 3 to 8, or adults who consider themselves slow learners! 😉😅

Here are 5 easy breaking moves they can follow along with at home:

1. Top Rock 🕺
2. Trash Can 🗑️
3. Knee Dip
4. Kick Out
5. Helicopter 🚁

And don’t forget to finish with a COOL POSE! 😎🔥

No experience needed! Just a little space, some music and a bit of energy!

Get your kids moving, dancing and having fun before screen time! 💪

Parents, give it a go and let me know if your kids completed all 5 rounds! 😂
