Recently I have started waxing my bike chain and I am now hooked. Always trying to get the best out of my riding I have tried the full range of Drip-on l***s , most of which mention wax as the important ingredient, shake the bottle well to homogenise the wax into a mix that can infiltrate all the components of the chain. These lubricants mainly offer a wax emulsion in a liquid form that then delivers the wax across the chain, and together they reside on the metallic surface of the chain pins, rollers and plates providing a friction free status for the chain to travel through the turns of your drivetrain.
Proper Bike chain waxing involves placing the chain in molten wax, so the wax penetrates the chain components. It is important to maintain regular lubrication intervals similar to other l**e applications, chain waxing is not aiming to extend the l**e intervals more it is reducing friction and extending the life of the drivetrain components. I use Silca Super Secret wax and its 100% compatible Liquid Chain Coating , so I Hot Dip Wax aprox every 1200 kms and and apply the compatible liquid wax at aprox 400kms twice between the Hot Wax applications.
