Day 6 started with what was becoming a mandatory stop at the very cool White Elephant Beach Cafe ☕️
After surviving yesterday’s monster 26km day, the crew felt unstoppable. So naturally today was just a casual 21.5kms from Boranup Forest to Cosy Corner.
The morning started through the stunning Karri trees before we hit the beach for morning tea and mentally prepared ourselves for 6.5kms of soft sand to Hamelin Bay. The sand was soft and thick but thankfully the 4WD tracks gave us something slightly firmer than quicksand to walk on.
After rounding the spectacular rocky outcrop at Hamelin Bay and one more sandy shuffle, a lunch stop was most welcome. A short walk after lunch and we were back at the bus.
An early finish meant recovery mode:
🏖 Beach swims for some
🥶 Ice pool suffering for others
🛏 Horizontal recovery in their rooms
Finished the day with drinks and nibbles around the pool, a light dinner, and an early bedtime before our final day 😢

Day 5
Biggest day of the hike so far, a casual 26.5kms (give or take a few hundred metres depending on whose watch reading we went by 😅).
Today had plenty of varied landscapes, scenery and flora. We started at Margaret River mouth, headed inland, then popped back out at the spectacular Redgate Beach where the surfers were absolutely frothing on perfect waves. Not being out there was the hardest part of the hike for me! 😩
We followed the coast to the famous Bobs Hollow for lunch, surrounded by massive limestone cliffs and dolphins right on cue.
Then came the emotional turning point of the day when we bumped into bus driver Phil and he casually informed us we still had 2.5 hours to go until the bus 😳. Whoops!
The final 5kms went on forever but thankfully the towering Karri trees through Boranup Forest delivered the goods and distracted us from our suffering.
Best news of all? Dinner was at our accommodation tonight, meaning Phil finally got a night off driving duties and could sit down for an ale with the crew 🍻and everyone could quietly disappear early to bed one by one. 😴

Day 3 ☀️
The group had officially found their hiking legs and settled into a rhythm, helped by absolute magic weather of 23 degrees, sunshine, and beautiful coastline views all day long.
Today’s 16km stretch from Moses Rock to Gracetown came with front row seats to amazing clean surf and plenty of entertainment from the surfers out in the water. Highlights included jet skis towing foilers into waves, a welcome distraction.
After the walk, we finished with a beach swim or in some cases, a “recovery session” up to the quads only.
Then it was a quick change of clothes and straight to Swings & Roundabouts Winery for a well earned beer (as you do at a winery) and an early dinner.

Day 2 - ANZAC DAY 🇦🇺🥾
We started the morning with our own little Anzac Day service on a quiet stretch of beach in Yallingup, a pretty special way to begin the day.
Then it was straight into today’s 18km walk from Yallingup to Moses Rock… which may or may not have left a few people questioning their training preparation.
Morning tea at Canal Rocks featured Danielle’s homemade Anzac biscuits, which disappeared fast!
As if the scenery and biscuits wasn’t enough, we watched two RAAF planes fly over from Busselton, followed almost immediately by a huge pod of dolphins cruising past the coastline. In Tezza’s words: “This is the best Anzac Day ever.” Hard to argue with that and it was only 10am!!
Today’s highlights included the stunning Smiths beach, Canal Rocks & Injidup Natural Spa and endless panoramic ocean views.
Thankfully, we cleaned ourselves up today before heading out for a very necessary carb-loading dinner at Piccolo. Pasta has never tasted so good.

Day 1 of our Cape to Cape adventure and the legs were already aware they’d signed up for something serious.
An early start from the Peninsula, with an 8am direct flight to Busselton, plus winding the clocks back two hours, meant it felt like we’d already lived two days before lunch. After a quick stop in Dunsborough, we hit the track for a “cruisy” 14km walk from Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse to Yallingup, with stunning coastline and much excitement for what the week would entail.
We headed straight off the trail and into dinner at Caves House Hotel, excusing the state we were in to the other patrons.🫣 Built in 1903 and serving up the perfect post hike feed, it was exactly what the group needed.
We then rolled into our beachfront apartments overlooking Smiths Beach, for hot showers and comfy beds, where everyone was asleep approximately 10 seconds after their head hit the pillow. Day 1 was a great start.
