🧠 Last night our U7 - U10 Full-Time Academy players took part in another fantastic classroom session at Soccer By Design! ⚽📚

💛 Players worked through their Positive Me books within their teams, continuing to build confidence, mindset, goal setting and positive habits both on and off the pitch. These sessions are such an important part of our Academy environment and player development pathway.

🛡️ Players also took part in a detailed defending workshop led by our Academy Director, where they learnt key defensive techniques, positioning, pressing triggers and strategies through video analysis and classroom discussion. Learning the game away from the field is a massive part of helping players understand football at a deeper level.

🎥 Watching real game clips and breaking down defensive situations allows our players to visually understand decision making, body shape, communication and how to defend as a team.

👏 A huge thank you also to Coach Sam Nicholson who shared his football journey with the players. From his early days at Manchester City through to spending 12 years developing inside the Barnsley F.C. Academy system, the players got an amazing insight into what life is really like as an Academy footballer from 9 years old right through to 19 years old.

🔥 Experiences like these are what make our Academy environment so special. Developing not only better footballers, but smarter, more confident young people.

🌍 Sam brings a huge level of experience and knowledge to SBD after a football journey that has taken him across England, Gibraltar, the USA and Australia.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Sam spent 12 years at Barnsley FC and has also been involved with Manchester City, learning what it truly takes to compete in professional football environments.

⚽️ Saturday mornings done the SBD way!

🎥 Our U7 + U8 Full-Time Academy players were back out competing in internal Academy games this weekend and the development we are seeing is unbelievable 👏

🧠 One of the most important parts of our Academy model is filming every game and reviewing the footage back in classroom sessions. This allows our coaches and players to analyse decision making, positioning, movement and overall game understanding in real time.

📈 These sessions give players the opportunity to visually learn the game, understand their strengths, improve areas of development and build confidence every single week.

🔥 The improvement in these young players over the past few months has been incredible to watch. Their bravery on the ball, teamwork, movement and understanding of the game continues to grow week after week.

🌟 The future is extremely bright at Soccer By Design and we can’t wait to continue watching these young players develop on and off the pitch.

🌟 Huge step forward for our SBD Academy Girls today as they played their very first round of games together on the road to Premier Invitational in September on the Gold Coast! 🌴

🙌 For many of these girls, this was the first opportunity to play together as a squad in a competitive environment, and the growth throughout the day was fantastic to watch. 💛🖤

There were so many positive moments:
⚽ Brave football under pressure
⚽ Players building confidence on the ball
⚽ Great teamwork and communication
⚽ A strong willingness to learn and improve every game

👏 Days like today are exactly why these development matches are so important. They allow the girls to build connections, understand each other’s playing styles, and continue growing as a team ahead of a huge experience later this year!
