ποΈ HOMECOMING HERO | ROUND 8 ποΈ
This weekend, as we take on Happy Valley, weβre proud to welcome back a true legend of the Emus as our Homecoming Hero β Geoff Sulley π¦
β€οΈπ€
Geoffβs football journey began with West Torrens SANFL in the U16/17 grades, before continuing at Allenby Gardens FC and eventually finding his home at Morphett Vale.
Joining the Emus in 1973, Geoff made an immediate impact, playing in a B Grade Premiership in his very first season. By 1977, he stepped into the role of B Grade playing coach and delivered an incredible year β securing a premiership, the SFL Lovelock Medal for Best & Fairest, and the MVFC B Grade Best & Fairest.
In 1980, Geoff was awarded Life Membership β a fitting recognition of his outstanding contribution to the club.
Following his appointment as A Grade coach in 1978, Geoff led the Emus into a golden era. That same year, the club celebrated its FIRST EVER A Grade Premiership β a historic moment that helped shape the culture, pride, and success we continue to build on today.
His coaching record is simply remarkable:
π 2 x B Grade Premierships (1977, 1978)
π 4 x A Grade Premierships (1978, 1979, 1980, 1981)
Geoff still holds the record for the most senior coaching premierships in our clubβs history and was also appointed SFL Association Senior Coach in 1980 and 1981 β winning both campaigns.
His influence didnβt stop there, with his legacy continuing through the generations, playing a role in the clubβs success in the 2000 premiership era through strong family connections.
Geoff Sulley is a true club man whose impact on the Emus will never be forgotten. His achievements, leadership, and dedication have helped shape the Morphett Vale Football Club into what it is today.
π Please join us this Saturday as we proudly celebrate Geoff as our Homecoming Hero!
