📉 2 out of 3 Australians are overweight — and it’s not hard to see why.
Somewhere along the way, our habits got flipped upside down. We celebrate life with ultra-processed food, sugary drinks & alcohol, and basically dessert for breakfast… then side-eye someone for having steak and veggies in the morning. Make it make sense. 😵💫
Let’s talk about the real head-scratchers:
🥤 “Diet soda will kill you, but full-sugar soft drink is fine.”
Truth is, you’d have to drink an absurd amount of diet soda before it becomes an issue. Meanwhile, full-sugar sodas are definitely messing with your blood sugar and waistline.
🍇 “Too much fruit = tummy ache, but a family-size bag of chips? Totally fine.”
Really? 🤦🏽♀️ Fruit fuels you with vitamins, fibre and antioxidants. Chips… just salt, oil, and regret.
🥗 “Greens are just plate decoration.”
Nah, they’re nutrient powerhouses. Your body wants the fibre, minerals and antioxidants — not just beige food with a side of more beige.
🥜 “Nuts = protein snack.”
They do have protein, sure — but they’re actually higher in fat. Healthy fat, yes — but let’s be real about what we’re eating.
🥩 “Steak for breakfast? Are you crazy?”
Who decided that cereal and muffins were morning food? Your body doesn’t care about the clock. It cares about real nutrients.
And don’t forget:
🍹Celebrating with junk and alcohol has become the norm — and questioning it makes you “the weird one.”
🍞Bread, pasta and pastries are “safe” staples, but whole foods get labelled as “extreme.”
🍫“Everything in moderation” somehow only ever applies to cake and wine, not broccoli.
Let’s challenge these beliefs. Your body deserves better than the standard Aussie diet.
👉 Start rethinking the rules you’ve been taught — because most of them are just marketing myths wrapped in sugar and deep-fried.
