The course is really starting to take shape now that we’ve had a bit of sunshine. The definition between the different heights of cut is starting to show, and things are looking sharper by the week.

The greens were sprayed last week to help suppress the Poa seed head, so hopefully we’ll start to see that disappear towards the end of this week.

Our tees are also due for a bit of attention, with solid tining and a top dress planned. That’ll be followed up with some fertiliser to give them a much-needed boost and tidy them up heading into the busier months.

The fairways will get a feed next week as well, which should keep them looking dark, healthy and full of colour.

We’ve also started snipping and tidying around the dam edges as we keep chipping away at those little 1% jobs that make a big difference to how the course presents.

As always, the team will keep on top of all our short-cut areas and bunkers, with the aim of presenting the course to the standard we pride ourselves on.

With the warmer months arriving, it’s certainly becoming a pretty enjoyable place to be.

The 10th at Mount Compass, play it safe or having a crack?

It is one of those holes that gives you plenty to think about from the moment you step onto the tee.

For the shorter hitter, or those happy to play the percentages, it’s a comfortable three-shot hole into the green. But for the longer hitters, getting there in two is definitely on the table, if you’re willing to take on the risk.

Miss around the green and things can get interesting very quickly. The deep bunker front-left will test even the best bunker players, while the bunker on the right can leave you with an incredibly difficult shot just to keep the ball on the putting surface.

It’s a great risk and reward hole and, for us, one of the most enjoyable on the course.
