"College tennis is the goal, Pro tennis is the dream"

This was instilled into me throughout my coaching at the Adelaide Tennis Academy. This has not changed.

However there's one thing that I want to add to that.

Super 10's is the beginning, college tennis is the goal. Pro tennis is the dream.

The Australian Tennis Pathway.

There are multiple pathways that happen in both local, state and national levels that might confuse people.

I see this pathway as 3 categories.

1. Training to Play

2. Playing

3. Training for success

The training to play phase happens consistently throughout the tennis journey.

This consists of private lessons and squads. Each have a pivotal part to play in the tennis journey.

Privates are used in a variety of ways but mainly technical and tactical coaching.
Squads play an important role also. It covers tactical coaching in live ball situations with point structures.

The playing phase can come in a variety of formats.
Namely playing club tennis an Australian Junior Tour Tournaments.
These are both vital for the development and work in conjunction with the training phase to get the most out of a player's tennis.

Having these phases and being a goal orientated tennis player gets you on the path to potentially making the Super10's format. The key is hitting a high volume of balls during the week in a structured environment with the correct technical and tactical advice.

The final phase Training for success comes about during high level coaching and tennis. This usually comes with invitation to national academies or participating in nationals. This leads you through to ITF tournaments, College Tennis and Professional Tennis.

I see no reason why Mount Gambier can't produce tennis players given the correct conditions, training and ethos.
