Dear friends,
Over the past 6 years Connecting Young Minds has provided an ideal platform for me to share a global mindset for respecting Neuro diversity, supporting a strengths based perspective and striving to remain up to date with new research. It’s been an honour to serve you.
With our upcoming move to rural Ceduna I won’t be actively seeking work, instead, creating more space and focusing mindful energy on our homeschooling journey together. Nurturing our love of travel, seekers of new experiences and carving out opportunities to connect and strengthen our relationships remains the ‘why’ behind our decision making.
Letting go isn’t easy.
Thank you for holding my hand and walking beside me as I take my final step from Connecting Young Minds 🙏
You are exceptional parents, aunts, uncles, nanas, grandpa’s... to exceptional young, growing individuals.
You’re awesome in every way. Even on days you feel depleted or defeated.
Living, growing, learning and connecting together has been a privilege I’m incredibly grateful for.
Growth is hard 😬
We can do hard things 💪
I won’t be posting on CYM page for the foreseeable future.
I do encourage you to keep raising the bar and being brave enough to start uncomfortable conversations, challenge yourself and others. Keep tapping into higher level, holistic information backed by good research.
But most importantly trust your gut!
Warmly,
Michelle 🌸

A high quality relationship can have long-lasting and cumulative positive effects on your physical, emotional and mental health. A good relationship does not compromise your personal growth or autonomy -- indeed a good relationship is good for your Self. It's a win-win.

What keeps us happy and healthy as we go through life? If you think it's fame and money, you're not alone – but, according to psychiatrist Robert Waldinger, you're mistaken. He can keep up with his baking in part because he is home-schooled by his mother, who quit her job as a parent adviser for the Prince George’s County school system to take care of Michael full time.
This 13-year-old opened a bakery. For every cupcake he sells, he gives one to the homeless.
Twice a month, he goes to domestic violence shelters, transitional housing and McPherson Square in D.C. to pass out goodies. He also makes wedding, birthday and graduation cakes.

You're stressed and your gut knows it—immediately. The enteric nervous system is often referred to as our body's second brain. There are hundreds of million of neurons connecting the brain to the enteric nervous system, the part of the nervous system that is tasked with controlling the gastrointestinal system.
I’m reading this book 6 years after purchasing it. If only I knew back then how relevant it is! I guess back then, I didn’t really ‘get it’ and didn’t see the bigger picture in terms of ALL our health. Back then, Jenna’s stool samples appeared ‘normal’ and so I never understood it further .... yet Angus was the one with the continued ‘runny poo’ but in my mind, he was meant to be my neuro typical child (that was living in denial). And of course life was just too hectic to cope with. I’m happy to read this book today, as we have made such a ginormous shift, and now I really understand why we are so much better. Whether it’s acid reflux, or skin conditions, or asma .... or autism .... every ailment links back to the quality of our gut. Our gut is like the roots of a tree. When the microbiome (bacteria in the gut) is out of sync, it affects EVERYTHING! I look forward to chapter 2 on the beach tomorrow, children permitting 😜

Relationship Development Intervention I spent 2 yrs studying RDI and can honestly say it changed our lives at home. Every day there are opportunities we harness to develop the guiding relationship and promote dynamic thinking. Here Mr T see’s his role in holding the box in place while I tape it closed. It won’t work if we don’t work together. I spotlight this (to embed the experience) “ we did it together” “ it’s great doing stuff together”
