FROM THE PRESIDENT -
Well that is another season finished on the field. Congratulations to the winning teams in the Grand Finals on the weekend, and unfortunately for our two teams, it was within reach but wasn’t to be in the end.
I was incredibly impressed with the standard of baseball played by both teams in the U13 Gold game, you kids battled your hearts out all the way to the end and you should all be proud of the way you all played. It gets me excited for the future of our club when I see so many talented kids all in the one team at such an early age! Stick together, come back next year and I’m positive you will reap the rewards!
And well done to both Koby and Wil, as first year coaches, looking after a young group of kids can throw up its challenges, but I received nothing but positive feedback all year of the fantastic work you were doing with this group, and also hope you both come back next year to continue what you lads have started, which is developing a bright future for our club.
To the Division 1 men, it was a tough ending to what started off so promising! There is no doubt that the talent is there to compete with any team in this league and do so at a high standard! But there was some valuable lessons to be taken out of this weekend, and still work to be done moving forward if you guys wish to get your hands back on that cup. Nothing in this life that is rewarding, comes without hard work, and that is what’s going to be needed to take you all to the next level.
As the season comes to a close we finish the year off this coming Sunday the 29th of March at the Blue Lake Golf club for our AGM and presentations. Lunch is available from 12 so make sure you book a table because last year they filled up pretty quick! The AGM and presentations will follow after lunch starting around 1pm.
All club positions will be vacant. Please take the time between now and the AGM to consider what YOU can do for our great club. For far too long now the club has become reliant on the same people to do the brunt of the work, and this is not sustainable for the future of our club!
It is important that we get some fresh faces and idea’s into the club so we can continue to develop, grow and strive to be the very best we can be both on and off the field! Remember many hands make light work, and if you want to see your kids continue to have a future playing for our great club and with their team mates and friends, we all need to get involved in some way and help where we can, and this all starts from the top, from the President, committee, down to our coaches and volunteers.
I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday to celebrate the 25/26 season.
Kane Harrison.
