PRIVATE 1-1 PUPPY TRAINING
‘Sunny’ - 12 weeks

Little Sunny was back out for a second training session yesterday afternoon with his owners.

He was a little cheeky bu**er this time 😛 however he demonstrated some nice ‘drops’ and nice duration to his sits as well. He did some lovely little retrieves. The owner said he wasn’t bringing things back, however he quickly returned to me with a little ball I threw. He cottoned on quickly to the game.

Some times it’s hard to train a pup when they just aren’t into it and getting Sunny to play tug was a little harder than the previous session.

We also worked on handling the lead. Helping teach Sunny that pulling is not going to work and learning to follow his human was a good idea.

Owners mentioned he was chargingthe bowl when they feed him, so we took a look at how to teach him to ‘wait’ for his meal and wait to hear the release word to eat. Took a little bit of time, as mentioned he was in a silly playful mood, however, once again, clever Sunny picked it up well 👍🏻

Lastly, popped Sunny up on grooming table and clipped his nails. Helped show owners exactly how to know where to clip his nails and Sunny did a great job learning that squirming and mouthing wasn’t going to work and get me to stop. He settled nicely and had no issues with the clipping of his nails.

I wish them all the best and hope to see them back for Manners classes in the near future.

🐾 ‘Vegemite’ - 9 week Jack Russell

How cute is little Vegemite ? 🥰. It was a pleasure to help her owner gain a better understanding of setting up a nice calm structure in and around home and the things to be aware of when raising a dog.

i always love helping puppy owners step off on the best foot with their pups and with confidence. It can be daunting when you get a pup and there is so much information out there, it’s hard to know where to turn and what to listen to. The aim of my consults is always to make it less stressful and a little more easier for everyone!!

Look forward to seeing Vegemite again next week and we will get cracking with training - engagement work, look at play and answer, shaping obedience and answer any queries the owner has.

LEVEL 2 - last week

These owners and dogs did amazing work during their last class Sunday.

It was so impressive to see the dogs holding lovely drop/stays,
even dropping their leads.

There were a few owners that really changed their demeanour over the last couple of weeks and it was game changing for the results with their dogs. Others made solid progress throughout the weeks.

Have to make mention of ‘Murphy’ border collie, who is such a different boy from his first class in Manners some 12 weeks ago. I doubt the owner thought she would be dropping her lead and him being so reliable in holding his stay around other dogs.

I thoroughly enjoyed holding these classes and hope to see the owners and dogs again down the track in other classes.
