A big thank you to all our lovely Ripples families who took the time to complete their Term 4 re-enrolment last week! 💙
We received more than 280 emails and are currently about halfway through working through them all. Thank you for your patience while we carefully juggle lesson changes, level progressions and timetable requests.
I'm hoping to have the majority of changes confirmed by Tuesday afternoon, with Term 4 invoices sent out at the same time.
Thank you again for your patience and continued support, I truly appreciate it! 🫶🏼

Happy Friday! 💙
We cannot believe we are already halfway through Term 3! The weeks are flying by, and we’re so proud of all the progress, confidence and brave moments we’ve seen in the pool so far.
Enjoy your weekend, Ripples families, we’ll see you back poolside next week! 🫧🏊♀️

Did you know? 💧
Swimming uses almost every muscle in the body at the same time!
While children are kicking, pulling, floating and balancing, they’re also developing coordination, strength and body awareness, without even realising it.
Swimming lessons aren’t only teaching an important life skill; they’re giving little bodies a full-body workout while they learn, play and have fun! 🏊♀️✨

“If you can be anything in this world, be a kind person.” 🤍
It feels like the perfect time to reintroduce myself, especially with so many new families and faces joining our Ripples community.
I’m Jenaya, the owner and founder of Ripples Swim School. I’m a wife, a mum to two beautiful boys, a swim teacher and a small-business owner who cares deeply…sometimes probably a little too deeply!
Ripples was created from my passion for helping children feel safe, confident, capable and supported in the water. I wanted to create a space where every child is met where they are, where their individual needs are understood and where they are given the time and encouragement they need to succeed.
I also wanted Ripples to be more than somewhere children simply come for a weekly swimming lesson. I wanted to create something meaningful for our community, a place where families feel welcomed and supported, where water safety education is accessible, and where children can develop skills that may one day save their lives.
Behind this business is also a human being with a whole life outside of it. A family who needs me, animals to care for, a home to run, health to look after and all the ordinary, messy parts of life happening behind the scenes.
Running a small business has taught me that you never truly know what someone may be carrying. We’re all human, we’re all doing our best, and a little kindness can make more of a difference than we realise.
So, if you’re new here, welcome! I’m so glad you’ve found us. And if you’ve been here from the beginning, thank you for continuing to be part of our story.
If we can be anything in this world, let’s be kind. Always. 🤍

Swimming lessons are about so much more than making it to the other end of the pool.
They’re about building breath control, body awareness, independence and reliable safety skills through consistent practice.
Every child progresses differently and sometimes the most important progress isn’t the most obvious. A calmer entry, a longer float, putting their face in willingly or finding the wall independently are all achievements worth celebrating.

This week has been one for the memory books. 🥹
I’ve watched some amazing milestones happen for kids who have been swimming with me since September/October 2025, and my heart is just so incredibly happy. And yes… I absolutely ugly cry when these moments happen. 😂😭
This business has been a crazy 11 months. There have been so many ups and downs, moments where I absolutely resent it, and moments where I absolutely adore it.
But I’m learning that both can be true.
It can be exhausting and rewarding. Overwhelming and fulfilling. Hard and incredibly beautiful.
And then you get to witness a child achieve something they’ve worked so hard for, and suddenly, all the hard days feel a little more worth it.
We’ve also had an overwhelming number of enquiries this week, which I am genuinely so incredibly appreciative of. It means the absolute world to have so many families interested in swimming with me and trusting me with their little ones.
For now, though, my focus is on the beautiful families we already have booked in for Term 3. I want to make sure I can continue giving my current swimmers the time, attention and quality lessons they deserve.
We’ll reassess availability as we head towards Term 4 and see what spaces, if any, become available.
These are the moments I’ll remember. The milestones, the happy tears, the amazing little humans who keep reminding me why I started this in the first place.

Sometimes the breakthrough comes right after the days that feel the most repetitive or challenging.
Keep showing up. Keep practicing. Keep trusting the process.
One day, it just clicks and you'll be so glad you didn't give up.
Save this for the days you need the reminder, or share it with a swim parent who needs to hear it. 💙

I think we’re finally starting to lean into something we should have done a long time ago: we cannot do it all.
For nearly a year, we’ve operated from this mindset that if a child needs swimming lessons, we should somehow find a way to fit them in.
More kids.
More hours.
More days.
More flexibility.
More exceptions.
Because we care.
And right now, we’re working 10+ hour days, 6 days a week.
And if I’m being completely honest, that is NOT the version of this business I want to build my life around.
I don’t want to spend my entire week teaching, answering enquiries, managing bookings, doing admin, solving problems and trying to squeeze in “just one more” child.
I don’t want to reach the point where I’m completely exhausted and then call it dedication.
So we’re starting to lean into something that has honestly been uncomfortable for me:
Less.
Fewer students.
Stronger boundaries.
More intentional scheduling.
An application process.
Limits on how many children we take.
Pricing that actually reflects what it costs to run this business.
And yes, that means some families will hear “no.”
That part is hard.
Because when you genuinely care about children, saying no can feel like you’re letting them down.
But I’m starting to realise that I don’t have to destroy my own quality of life to prove that I care.
I want to be teaching for years.
Not just surviving this year.
And I think there’s a massive difference between being committed to your students and being consumed by your business.
So this is us learning to choose sustainability over martyrdom.
And honestly?
I think more swim instructors need permission to do the same.
