✈️ Travelling? Sore feet, tired legs, stiff hips?
We’re exploring Japan 🇯🇵 and clocking up 15,000–20,000+ steps a day. Between all the walking, flights and train rides, our bodies are feeling it!
So here are 5 simple yoga movements to try in your hotel room after a big day exploring. No experience needed.
1️⃣ Diagonal Dangle
For tired lower backs, glutes and hamstrings. Fold forward with knees as bent as you like. Relax your head and neck, then gently roll diagonally side to side, pressing through your feet. Too much? Hold opposite elbows and sway instead.
2️⃣ Waterfall Pose
A favourite after flying or walking all day. Elevating your legs may help ease temporary fluid pooling in your feet and lower legs. Lie on your back with one or two pillows under your hips and lift your legs. Or rest them up a wall. Stay a few minutes and relax.
3️⃣ Reclined Twist
Lovely for a stiff lower back. Lie down, draw one knee towards your chest and gently take it across your body. Let your shoulders soften, breathe for a while, then swap sides.
4️⃣ Happy Feet
Give those hardworking feet some love! Lift and spread your toes, then gently rock between heels and balls of feet. Tricky standing? Try seated. You can use your fingers to help hold toes down, too. It’s practice, not a test!
5️⃣ Reclined Butterfly
For hips that feel a bit tight. Lie on your back, bring the soles of your feet together and let your knees fall outwards. Add pillows for support if you like. No pushing or forcing.
🧘 BONUS: Put your phone down and meditate for 5 minutes.
Meditation isn’t about silencing your mind. Sit or lie comfortably and notice your breath, body sensations and thoughts as they come and go. Nothing to control or fix. Just practise noticing.
💚 Save this for your next trip, or send it to someone who’s doing ridiculous step counts on holiday!
