We let Abby out from behind her desk again. This time, we sent her to test just how easy it is to hire a bike with Better By Bike. 🚲

Starting in Murwillumbah, she hits the trail for a day of fresh air, sunshine and plenty of good views along the way. ☀️🌿

6 jaw-dropping Rail Trail bridges

History buff? Engineering nerd? Adventure seeker? Just here for the views? A good bridge hits hard.

Across the northern and southern sections of the Rail Trail, you’ll find some seriously impressive crossings, from towering timber trestles to bridges surrounded by creeks, rainforest and rolling countryside.

Come for the history. Stay for the views. And enjoy a perfectly acceptable little perve at some very impressive engineering. 👀🚲

Here are six worth slowing down for.

We told you the rain wouldn’t stop us. 🌧️🚲

And while you may have been tucked safely under the covers last Sunday, questioning whether the great outdoors was really worth it, this is what we were doing…

Eating lemon myrtle cheesecake . Drool.

Then came farm-fresh zucchini frittata, before we rolled into for Deb Allard’s local cheeses paired with salami, Davidson plum and native flavours. Grovelling for more.

And because apparently that wasn’t enough, we finished with locally made gelato .

Four stops. One Rail Trail. A progressive tasting adventure through the Tweed, with just enough pedalling between courses to make us feel virtuous.

So, if you missed Savour the Trail, please accept this carousel as both a recap and a tiny taste of what could have been.

Yours in solidarity,
Well fed and mildly smug. 😏

A little rain was never going to get between us and cheesecake. 😏🚲

The conditions may have looked less than ideal, but the hardy crew who turned up for Savour the Trail were very well rewarded.

Lemon myrtle cheesecake. Zucchini slice. Local cheese and flavours. Farm-made gelato. And a whole lot of Northern Rivers goodness along the way. 🤤

We had visitors make the trip from Brisbane, Ballina and right across the region to meet local producers, discover new favourites and quite literally Savour the Trail.

Good food. Great people. Questionable weather. Brilliant day. 💚

Stay tuned for a carousel with more images from the day.

Okay, Lonely Planet. Challenge accepted. 👀

The Tweed has been named among Best in Travel 2027, and we reckon the best way to see what all the fuss is about is from the Rail Trail. So we’ve mapped out the weekends we’d actually want to take ourselves.

Couples. Families. Girls’ weekends. And plenty of very good reasons to get off the bike along the way.

History, with a heartbeat. 🖤

For generations, these moments have existed as still photographs. Today, we’re inviting you to see them a little differently.

Using subtle AI movement, we’ve gently animated original historical images from the railway’s past. Not to change history or pretend it was captured on film, but to create a fleeting sense of what it might have been like to stand here, all those years ago.

Because sometimes the smallest movement can make the past feel remarkably close.

With thanks to Tweed Regional Museum and our local historical societies for preserving these windows into our shared past.
