The last winter event of the year had plenty of sunshine which was needed with the course presenting wet and heavy after more rain throughout the week leading in. A stableford was on offer with Shaun Bryant coming up a winner, 36 points was enough to take home the Seymour club matchday voucher with reports Bryant's game was not pretty but effective, good putting was what got the job done. Runner up on countback was gritty golfer Steve Donnison playing his usual consistent style of golf on a course that was giving little assistance. Third on the day was Jeremy Ezard with a handicap killer of 35 stableford points.

Only two of four nearest the pin prizes went off Jeremy Ezard floated the correct iron onto the short par three 13th, and Alan Anderson lit one up going oh so close at the 16th. Next week's golf at Nagambie will be a stroke - monthly medal on office duty will be J. Ezard and in the bar D. Neville.

The MacPherson Wines four ball best ball continues to be a popular event on the Nagambie golfing calendar with all the contestants keen and eager to win the prizes on offer, many thanks to go to MacPherson Wine for their long running sponsorship of the day. Steve Dove and Bob McAdam were the winners with an excellent score of 44 stableford points, with the course playing long and a light southerly breeze blowing scoring was not easy. Dove and McAdam acknowledged one anothers contributions to the score and were happy to get it right for a change, good scoring from both players wins four balls. Runners up 3 points back on 41 were inform player Kevin Lindner and partner Shane McCormick if theses two stick together a big win should not be out of the question, rounding out the top three also on 41 points were Nagambie four ball specialists Michael Sloan showing off a new partner in the way of Vic Cassar.

The nearest the pin prizes went to the MacPherson Wines representative taking home his own wares Shaun Bryant with two belters on the difficult 3rd and long par three 8th, Terry Lowis was back producing some magic at the 13th and last week's Dargalong Cup champion Doug Neville was at it again claiming the 16th. Next week's golf at Nagambie will be a stableford event with D. Love on office duty and W. Le Cerf in the bar.

The Nagambie golf club competition was moved to a Saturday fixture to allow members to patronise the Murchison golf clubs biggest day of the year, their Dargalon Cup. There was brilliant sunshine all day for the small field that did assemble but ground was very heavy after plenty of rain across the previous week, once again there was a big premium on carrying the ball. It was big hitting Kevin Lindner posting the winning score of 35 stableford points to win by a comfortable margin of 5, Lindner's game continues to get sharper as his enthusiasm and desire to learn the game only increases. Lindner produced some ripping drives throughout the round, setting up and executing plenty of great iron shots on what was a heavy track. Runner up in the small field was Rod Wilso on 30 points this was only the start of a big weekend for Wilson who also nabbed the only nearest the pin with a well timed strike at the 13th.

The Dargalong Cup is a long running four ball hosted by the Murchison golf club that is well supported by all its neighbouring clubs 46 pairs of golfers took to the sandscrapps never knowing what to expect, but as it turned out it was a big day for two of the Nagambie contingent. Longtime Nagambie golfer Doug Neville who has won it all but not often partnered with Rod Wilson to win the prestigious event by 3 holes. Their +7 result that had it all, Neville sinking shots from off the sands on the first 3 holes to secure pluses and Wilsonnot to be upstaged doing his bit sharing the load, were too good for the rest of the field. As the saying goes 'every dog has its day' but this one looked like it had just been rescued from the pound, congratulations to Doug Neville and Rod Wilson for an amazing result and adding to the Nagambie success in the sought after event.

Next week's event at Nagambie is the very popular McPherson Wines sponsored four ball best ball, golfers will require a partner with hit off at the regular time of 9.00am to 9.30am on office duty is S. Bryant and in the bar will be P. Neville.

IRRIGATION UPDATE.

Our automated irrigation installation across 13 holes is progressing well and remains on schedule for completion at the end of August. As of Thursday 6 August, only two fairways still require installation. Commissioning, testing, and backfilling will continue over the coming weeks to ensure the course is in great condition at handover.

We thank all members and visitors for their patience during the works. Please continue to be mindful around active work areas.

Once the project is complete, Local Rule 16.1(b) will remain in place while newly worked areas settle.

EZARD SHINES IN HEAVY CONDITIONS!

The August monthly medal was the prize on offer with a large field assembling on the cold winter morning at the Nagambie golf club, but as the day progressed the sun shone and things became very pleasant. Good ball striking was needed to negotiate the course with the ground still heavy and a strong north wind blowing. Back to back wins was the order of the day with Jeremy Ezard putting together a winning score for the second week in a row 73-2-71 was good enough to win the monthly medal and take home the Seymour club matchday voucher. Solid driving and good iron play was the key to Ezards win with him admitting he was a bit shaky on the greens. Runner up continued his run of good form throughout the year was Dean Brown firing a very comfortable 85-12-73. Next best was Rod Wilson having been the clubhouse leader for some considerable time Wilson's 95-21-74 fell just short.

The nearest the pin prizes went to Dean Brown playing a bomb at the 3rd, Steve Donnison showed some touch with a beauty at the 13th and Peter Lawrence pulled the right club to get the job done at the not so easy 16th. Next week's golf at Nagambie will be the 3rd round of the social club trophy on office duty is J. Lodding and in the bar T. Baldwin.

A stableford was played at the Nagambie golf course with a thick fog blanketing the course all morning and into the early afternoon, so hitting the ball out of sight was not difficult. A light sprinkling of rain fell the day before making the already heavy ground conditions even more so, there was a premium on carrying the ball to the hole which was capitalised on by the leading golfers. The winner on the day was Jeremy Ezard whose ability to flight the ball was very much an advantage, a 39 point total was returned, winning the Seymour Club matchday voucher by a comfortable four points. Runner up was in form pennant winning player Dean Brown, a well executed 35 point total was carded. Finishing top three was John James on 33 points, James looks set to do well in some big events when the Spring turns up.

The nearest the pin prizes went to Ben Cassar with a kick in birdie at the 3rd, our winner Jeremy Ezard adding to the spoils at the 13th and a winning member of last week's pennant success Graeme Cusack playing a cracker at the 16th. Next week's golf at Nagambie will be a stroke - monthly medal on office duty will be J. Ezard and in the bar C. Roberts.
