🟩 E Grade – Round 4 (Two-Day Game)
E Grade begins their first two-day battle of the season against Washington Park 3. This format demands patience, partnerships, and discipline — and the team is focused on bringing controlled cricket across both Saturdays.

🟡 H Grade – Round 5 (One-Day Game)
H Grade travel to Hurlingham Park to take on Brighton Union 3. With a strong lineup named and confidence growing, the group will look to build on last week’s positives and deliver a complete performance with bat, ball, and in the field.

🏏 Saturday Match Results – Week 4

A big weekend of cricket for MDU with strong performances, big partnerships, and plenty of fight across both grades. Here’s how the teams went 👇

🔵 MDU 1 (E Grade) – WIN by 83 Runs

A commanding display from MDU 1 with a complete team performance. After a tricky start, the innings was rebuilt through a crucial 86-run partnership between Afzy and Tom, followed by Abin’s explosive 24 (14) that lifted the total to 165.

The bowlers took over from there — Varun struck in the first over, Anoop claimed 3 wickets, and Sandy & Tom picked up 2 each, dismantling SE Caulfield for 82.
Some brilliant catches from Sinish, Praveen, and Sandy added to the pressure and sealed a strong win.

💛 MDU 2 (H Grade) – Lost by 33 Runs

A match that slipped away after a brilliant start. Retheesh and Sridhar opened with exceptional spells, reducing Washington Park to 4/40, supported by sharp catching from Retheesh and Deeraj.
Divyansh continued the momentum with 2 wickets, and at drinks the hosts were struggling at 5/69.

However, 45 extras proved costly as Washington Park rebuilt to 160.
In the chase, early wickets hurt MDU, but Mridul and JK showed great character with a 51-run stand, followed by positive intent from Retheesh and Sridhar late in the innings.

Despite the result, the fight, attitude, and key moments of control showed what this team is capable of. Plenty of positives to take forward into next week.

💛 H Grade – Round 4 (HOME GAME)
H Grade return to our home ground this week with plenty of determination. After building confidence with strong bowling and fielding performances, the boys are ready to put together a complete display in front of home supporters. 🔥

A tough day with the bat in testing conditions, as United Stars bowled tightly and made early inroads. Partnerships were hard to build, and MDU finished with 80 on the board.

But what a response with the ball! 💥
Our bowlers came out fired up and made the chase anything but easy. Tom and Solo were unplayable at times, supported by a brilliant fielding display — Retheesh’s one-handed screamer and George’s sharp catch set the tone.

Despite the low total, the fight, energy, and teamwork were outstanding. Another close game that could’ve gone either way — just a bit of luck away from a remarkable win.

Two rounds in, and we’ve seen what this team is capable of — strong batting one week, exceptional bowling and fielding the next.
Now it’s about one word: consistency. 💪

A little late to post, but definitely worth sharing — our first Sunday League game was a close, hard-fought battle that went right down to the final over! 💪

Gadhafi (82) led from the front with a captain’s knock, supported by George (43) in an 83-run opening stand. Afan (32) and Jithin (18) added valuable runs through the middle, helping us post a solid total.

With the ball, Afan and Retheesh were outstanding — both bowling their 8 overs for just 22 runs, building pressure from start to finish. 💥

Unfortunately, a few missed catches made the difference as Berwick edged home in a tight finish.
Still, plenty of positives — strong partnerships, disciplined bowling, and great team energy.

We’ll take the lessons, sharpen up in the field, and come back stronger next round. 💚💛
