Allgate Motorsport's Race Weekend Summary at SMSP
Day 1:
The weekend started with a bit of a setback as we discovered a hairline fracture on the rear hub, which was leaking diff oil onto the rear tire. Thanks to some quick thinking and a stick welder, we were able to fix it. However, during the first race of the weekend, we encountered a gearbox issue, losing 3rd and 4th gear. We'll be changing the gearbox in the morning to be ready to charge up the pack over the next three races.
Day 2:
We swapped out the gearbox in the morning. In Race 2, we had a rough start, stalling and beginning 8 seconds behind the pack. Despite this, we managed to catch up to the rear of the field and made some passes to finish 17th. In Race 3, we stalled again, this time with a 9 second delay. Nevertheless, we fought our way up to 17th before contact in the last corner of the last lap which caused us to finish 18th with a burst power steering hose. We later identified the cause of the stalled starts as an issue with the clutch pickup point.
Day 3:
Armed with knowledge of the clutch issue, we feathered the start in Race 4, dropping to 22nd place initially. With no gap to chase down throughout the race, we pushed hard and climbed up to P16, recording our fastest lap of the weekend a 1:47.8. This performance truly showcased the car's pace. Overall, despite coming into the round with no setup or previous laps in the past 12 months, our team showed great potential and resilience.
Once again thank you to the series, our sponsors & team that made the weekend possible.
