DAY 4 report
This photo doesn't tell the full story of the rain the riders experienced yesterday over their longest day - 129km!
Dale Beaumont tells us that within about 20 minutes they were completely soaked, but after lunch the weather went to the next level, For about an hour, they rode through absolutely relentless rain.
At times there was flash flooding across the roads, with water reaching up around their knees as they rode through it. There wasn’t a square inch of any of them wasn’t completely soaked.
He says "There was one section where the road had basically turned into a river, and suddenly everyone was laughing and smiling like kids riding their bikes through puddles again."
Martin tells me that for the last hour the sun came out - beating down and drying them out but leaving them "crisped" 😂 Thanks to Finn and Hands Across the Water for the photo
