It's game on today as the Eagles head around the corner to battle Magic for the points. A strong showing last Friday night saw the Eagles producing some quality football from end to end, and no doubt they'll be looking to maintain and build on that form heading into today's matches. 𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙚: 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙫𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 — these games are not back-to-back as usual, with the U23s just after lunch and the main game later in the day.

Training resumes as per normal for all teams today 😊

Junior players please wear appropriate cold-weather clothing as we head into these winter months — track pants, base layer and undergarments, track tops, beanies, gloves etc are all welcome however if any of it has any sharp, hard or metal parts please do not wear to training.

A solid performance from the FQPL4 Men last night which was frustratingly not reflected in the final scoreline, with the Eagles dominant in possession and attack for long periods of the match, despite not being able to convert it into goals. It was a scoreless second half, the Eagles creating multiple chances including a nail biting back post denial late in the match leaving the home team hanging on for the draw. Another double for Alex Jones — first from the penalty spot, and the second from a powerful near-post header smacked in from a perfectly delivered Caden Schmidt free kick just outside the box.

A bizarre end to the match when, with several minutes yet to be played on the clock and the Eagles knocking on the door for a third goal, the lights on the Gold Coast United's main field were suddenly switched off, leaving the match to grind to a halt in complete darkness. A couple of minutes passed before the referee sounded the full time whistle and wrapped up the match where it stood.

In the U23 reserve grade, a frustrating performance for a single goal loss, and despite plenty of chances and patches of some good football, the lads were unable to claw back from an early Tally goal, coming up just short.

Next up, the boys head away to face Magic United — Saturday afternoon, 6th June, details to come.

Unfortunately all games at Nerang this weekend are postponed. On the flip side, the weather is looking great over next few days to hopefully dry it all out for a return to training and games early next week 😊 please check your Squadi and away-club's social media pages for updates regarding other grounds and away games this weekend.

Matches have been relocated from the Tally Valley fields over to Gold Coast United's fields, so for those attending please hit the entrance off Tallebudgera Creek Road, NOT the Andrews Road entrance.

With more rain on the way our fields will remain closed today and tomorrow to all activities. Games are postponed and training off sorry. We will reassess Friday afternoon when this wet weather subsides. We share everyone's frustration but it's beyond our control, and we would surmise that most clubs in SE Queensland will be in a similar situation for the next couple of days at least.

❌ 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙𝗙 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 ❌
After a full inspection of our grounds a short time ago, unfortunately our fields are at 100% saturation, and unfit for any football activity again today. The rest of the week is not looking good either if it all eventuates as forecast. We will update each day as the week progresses, hoping for a much better end to the week and potential return to games this weekend.

Unfortunately another 25mm or so of rain has hit our area since 9am yesterday, and with the ground underneath already soaked, it's very quickly saturated into the surface layers. We will monitor through the week and update as information comes to hand.
