2022 Goals
We all have goals, its what gets us through the mundane day to day. Have you set small and big goals for 2022 to make sure your hitting milestones and progressing ?
By setting small weekly, monthly, quarterly goals and ticking them off it makes reaching the BIG goals easier and more achievable.
Here's an example
2022 Goal lose 10kg
Week 1 goal - drink more water
Week 2 goal - eat 1 extra vegetable
Month 1 goal
Exercise 12 times in a month
3 month goal
Lose 2.5kgs
See how each small goal, stacks up to reach the big goal BUT instead of constantly looking at the LOSE 10KG and it still seeming so far away, you are ticking off goals weekly and realising the feel good hormones. ๐ฅฐ
Tell me below what are your 2022 health, fitness and riding goals ?

The Equine world can be brutal.
I said it, not all but the equine world has been one of the worst I have seen for bullying and body shaming.
People need to start to realise that words hurt and you never know what someone else is going through.
No matter where you are in your life's journey, you are enough, you are amazing and you are aloud to do and be who you want to be.

What is your health worth to you?
Right now it may be nothing or on the back burning because you are "healthy" but what would happen if you didn't have your health, if you got sick tomorrow and you couldn't work or enjoy life, then what would it be worth to you?
Your health is the number 1 most important thing you have, without health you have nothing and waiting until it's to late is going to be way more expensive in the long run.
Education is key, and educating yourself and then making small changes everyday day to ultimately lead to a happier healthy version of you.
Don't wait for a health scare to scare you into change, preventive is the best cure.

Good Morning Ladies and gents
The most important thing with any weight loss journey is small changes.
The most important thing about long lasting change is that you need to do things slowly, if you try to go from A to Z in one day, you will never stick to it, you don't have the habits in place, you need to work through each phase slowly in order to have long last results.
So here's some ideas of where to start
Week 1 - Drink more water, literally that's it set a goal to drink atleast 2L or 2.5/3L if your breastfeeding
Week 2 - keep the water intake up and increase your protein, more protein = fuller for longer
Week 3 - keep up the 2 things above and add an extra cup of vegetables to your day
Week 4 - Add nothing and keep up the above
The most important thing is committing to the small changes. Remember we want long term, sustainable change.

Stretching and warming up is Important for every rider!!!
Using dynamic stretches for warming up and static stretches for post exercise or ride can make such a huge difference for horse and rider.
So what is the difference?
A dynamic stretch involves movement it is warming up both the muscle and the joint, a static stretch is just that static its a stretch that does not involve movement and is held for 15-30 seconds.
Static stretches should never be done with cold muscles, think of it like this, you put an elastic band in the freezer (cold) take it out and stretch it back and forth a few times, sure it won't snap the first time but small fibres will break and over time the elastic band will break down.
This is what happens when we use our muscles cold over and over again, eventually they will break down, a proper warm up and cool down is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your horse.

Phase one of Rider Fitness is mobility.
Mobility is so important as a rider, our bodies need to be supple and move with our horses.
Any problems with mobility or stiffness can cause issues with not only your riding, but can transfer to your horse and cause issues in there ability to move.
Do you currently do any mobility exercises?
Do you have a warm-up and cool down routine pre and post ride?
These things are all small things that can make a huge difference to your horse and your riding long term.

The most important thing about rider fitness is.....
Stability
Why? Because we need to have an independent seat.
No matter the discipline you choose, high level or trail riding it is important that you as a rider can hold your own in any situation.
The more you can hold yourself the less work our horses need to do for us, and the more they can put into completing there own tasks.
So how do you achieve this
* Practice
* Patience
* Out of the saddle exercises and training
Its not something that will happen overnight but definitely something that needs to be taken into consideration by ALL riders.
Thanks to happy horse training for this great image.

What is rider fitness??
Rider fitness is not being the strongest or the skinniest, its not a fitness competition or busting your butt everyday in the gym, its not about huge transformations.
Rider fitness is working towards being a stronger more balanced rider, to help your horse do the work he/she needs to do.
To build the muscles and balance to be able to sit quietly and to be able to enjoy riding without being buggered at the end of a short ride.
Our programs are designed for the busy rider who just wants to be a better rider and help there horse to do its job easier.
